To expect Tesco's perfectly ripe pears to be ripe

I never normally buy such things but dd1 has a pear obsession & I have failed in my motherly duty of having a rolling stock of ripening pears.

So spotting them I think perfect, I can buy some to ripen & these will do in the mean time. except they are not bloody ripe

YANBU they should be ripe.

Be they do come in waaay too much packaging to justify buying IMO.

Tesco also do a good line in finest mouldy tomatoes...

Singsinthebath, I agree that & the price tag are why I would never normally buy them but in the face of dd1's love affair with the pear I wilted
(I should add that she is a horrid phase of refusing to try anything new so having tried & like pears I am keen to reinforce the behaviour!)

Minshu; bleuugh - even worse at least these should be edible in time..

Although I shop regularly at Tesco I stopped buying their fruit and veg ages ago, its always such a let down.

Ripe things not ripe - Ripen at home things going off so quickly - Bananas are black when you peel them, Tomatoes are tasteless, etc..

I now go to the local village shop for all fruit and veg and the difference is unbelievable and worth the extra expense.

LouMacca - I know that you are right and will make the effort instead of the lazy supermarket option.
