we are going for a 3d/4d scan on monday, dps asked mil if she wants to come and she said no, cos she does her ironing on a monday afternoon !

she lives with her dp and 40 year old son, they cant do their own ironing?

probably pregnancy hormones....

It might be an excuse because she doesn't want to go?
I wouldn't want one of those freaky 3d scans for my own babies, let alone hanging about watching someone elses! I'd rather do my own ironing, and I don't even own one.

biddysmama - most MILs would rip their right arm clear off to be invited to their DIL's scan - sorry yours doesn't feel the same - OTOH at least she wont be around your house every 5 mins!! Really, make the most of her anal attitude

I can't imagine either my mother or mother in law being remotely interested in atttending scans. My mother would positivly recoil in horror.

Thinking about it, I guess its probably a really weird thing for her as she would never have had anything like that when she was pregnant. From what you say about her mannerisms and character, is she one of these people who think its all a bit 'voodoo', 'don't mess with what you don't understand' kind of thing?

TBH I´d be furious at my husband for asking his mum along.

And I do think he´s taking advantage of her.
Does he pay for the food she buys & cooks?

Her 40yr old son might not be able to do his ironing but her 38yr old one can´t get breakfast.

I'd be horrified if DP had asked MIL (who I adore) to any of my scans. Why are you hurt? You should be relieved.

The breakfast thing is just too strange for words... (imo)
