To tell my DD's friend's mum that her DD was hit by a car?

My DD's friend ran across a road in the local village and was apparently hit by a car - not injured as I think the driver had virtually stopped. I was not there, neither was DD, but heard this from another friend. DD came home from school yesterday saying that the friend had hurt her arm in the incident and was wearing a tubigrip bandage, but had told her mother that she had fallen off a swing. Should I tell her mother the truth, or will her DD (10) have learnt her lesson about crossing roads without the having her mother involved?

Definitely tell the mother.

If it were my dd I would want to know. Yes, I think you should tell her. No question about it. Maybe the dd has a habit of running into roads and doesn't want to get into trouble with her mum - doesn't matter, the parent should know.

Tell the mum.

Tell her. But is it true? Has an adult seen it happen?

Gigantaur · 05/05/2010 10:14

think i would tell her in a "oh i heard DD was hit by a car, is she ok" kind of way rather than a telling tales kinda way IYSWIM

Thanks - no - I am not absolutely sure that it happened as it came via another of DD's friends - and you know what girls can be like! I would want to know if it were my DD, but I worry that I often wade into situations and then it backfires on me (or DD) as I am known for my brutal honesty. Will drop it into conversation next time I see her.

Tell her mother at once

Kathyjelly · 05/05/2010 10:23

Of course you should tell her that you think it might have happened. Suppose the child passes out today, has a slow bleed and the mum doesn't know what to tell the doctors.

OrmRenewed · 05/05/2010 10:24

Won't the school tell the mum? I'd be a bit surprised if they didn't.

LoveMyBigTV · 05/05/2010 10:31

Deffinatley tell the mother if the school haven't done so already
