To hate three wheeled /over sized buggies with a passion

Ryoko · 29/04/2010 11:42

I know I'm going to get flamed over this but I don't care.

I can't stand the things, I think they are stupid, day after day I see them clogging up the shops and buses, they are nothing more then the baby version of a Chelsea tractor.

I hate walking past them in the shops what with them having spikes on the wheels for off road and they take up far too much space on the bus, the things can't even be folded properly not that anyone even tries to fold em even when someone gets on the bus with a wheel chair.

Why do people buy them? they are so stupid, this is London, there is no off road to be had, why do you need a Travel system that costs more then a small second hand car with your carry cot attachment, car seat attachment etc and then spend all day clogging up small shop aisle with it and blocking the gangway on the bus with it?.

Whats wrong with a simple small, light folding buggy that can be bought for less then half the price and in most cases can carry a child up to an older age then the Travel Systems.

weegiemum - I truly feel for you. But maybe don't count as I am an SN mum!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 29/04/2010 14:52

(since I know you are feeling than non-SN parents don't seem to care I mean)

tvfriend · 29/04/2010 14:53

Ryoko- I've just seen your thread on 'Hating the Upper/Middle' classes- is your irrational hatred to big buggies something to do with this?

weegiemum · 29/04/2010 14:53

AH fanjo - you count double!!

Last week I took the kids on the bus and after dd2's recent appointment, she walked on!!!!

I cried!

Tiredmumno1 · 29/04/2010 14:54

darkandstormy i have only ever posted one thread about dogs which was a very long time ago.

are you sure you are not confusing me with the other tired thats posts aswell

ooojimaflip · 29/04/2010 14:54

Wembley is, of course, NotLondon though.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 29/04/2010 14:56

weegiemum - that is great and I am sure she will soon be walking a lot more!

I got that same feeling the other week when I took my DD for her first ever trip out without her buggy (she is 3.6)..it was hard work but rewarding.

weegiemum · 29/04/2010 14:58

WHen she went back to school last week she was allowed to do -- PE

For FIFTEEN whole minutes.

I cried that day too!!

Morloth · 29/04/2010 14:58

It is on the inside of th M25 isn't it? I thought that counted as London? Or is that the N/S circular?

Ryoko · 29/04/2010 14:59

Middlesex is nothing more then a post code so Wembley is London, Surry however is still around so I don't understand the media keep saying that is London.

Anyway even if middlesex was still around I'd still be in London cos I'm on the boarder (and don't go anywhere near Wembley cos it's a dump).

I dont think either of my dcs has ever truly noticed they were in an uncomfy pushchair - they were too busy being asleep .

Although I disagree with the stridency of ryokos approach I think there is something in her kia/bmw assertion - they all do the same job at the end of the day - just some have cupholders and more suspension.

ooojimaflip · 29/04/2010 15:01

If somewhere doesn't have a London post code it is NotLondon. So Wembley is NotLondon, Ealing is London. Both are equally west spits though.

ooojimaflip · 29/04/2010 15:02

Damn that was meant to be a does an action set of s not a bold set of s.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 29/04/2010 15:04

weegiemum - yes, sometimes little things mean so much.

Morloth · 29/04/2010 15:06

LOL I like the way you use NotLondon, oojimaflip, like the world is split into 2 - London and NotLondon.

Ryoko · 29/04/2010 15:07

But the post office isn't the be all and end all for deciding where an area is, the post code is the only thing remaining that says it was ever not part of London.

OP posts:
ooojimaflip · 29/04/2010 15:17

Morloth - But it IS isn't in

Ryoko - I don't CARE about any other definitions

Naetha · 29/04/2010 15:18

Glad I live miles away from London.

Sounds like it's full of wankers.

OtterInaSkoda · 29/04/2010 15:23

Another reason for having an urban 3-wheeler - hard wheels are crap if your historic city is blessed with bumpy pavements or cobbles.

Bigmouthstrikesagain · 29/04/2010 16:13

I lived in Lewisham where bus journeys were murder at the best of times and there was quite horrendous pram related behaviour. Both from mums and other passengers but travelling on public transport is hellish in London. People are crammed in, pissed off and pushy. So the behaviour of people with shopping laden maclaren buggys was just as orrible as anyother buggy owner - so sorry op but I just have never seen the link between buggy size and rude boorish muthas!

Morloth · 29/04/2010 16:41

I like the look of those Stokke prams, do they lower later on so the kid can clamber in themselves?

ooojimaflip · 29/04/2010 16:42

Naetha - I'm glad you live miles away from London too.

Morloth · 29/04/2010 16:47

I don't know ooojimaflip I am stuffed outside of my little circuit really - though I did get as far out as Kingston once, but that was when we had rented a car.

Rockbird · 29/04/2010 17:09

Yeah yeah yeah, mothers with prams are the root of all evil. Don't buy the pushchair that you like and need because I don't like it and you're getting in my way and I'm sooooo much more important than you and your kid.

FGS OP, you're not paying for the pushchair so it's none of your business. Although I agree it's cheeky of these parents to buy a pushchair without consulting you..

darkandstormy · 29/04/2010 17:09

tired mum whoops I am sorry I think I did, my unreserved apologies.I am having a mad my preschooler has had me up since 5am moment, can't even blame the vino.
