to be scared of my colleagues

A girl at work recently went off on maternity leave. When I took the card round for one of my (middle aged, male) colleagues to sign, he went mental, saying he was sick of covering for women on maternity leave and that he thought this particularly girl should be sacked.

At the time I was TTC, now I am PG, and I'm scared and angry that I've ended up in another misogynistic workplace (which, incidentally, prides itself on being one of the Top 50 places women want to work).

AIBU (or perhaps AIBOS (over-sensitive))???

I would tell your boss what he sID AND THAT ITRS MADE YOU UNCOMFTABLE, IF THEY DO PRIDE THEMSELVES ON BEING A PLACE WOMEN WANT TO WORK THEY WILL TAKE ACTION AGAINST HIM.

I guess it depends whether he has any power over hiring and firing, and whether he is representative of the rest of your company.

Or just a lone, embittered soul having a bad day?

Well, that's one person, not the work place. So I don't think you should be worried about the workplace being bad.

However you do need a word with your boss or other person, because that kind of rant makes it very hard for a woman to feel comfortable and could possibly put the company up against claims of sexual discrimination if repeated or perpetuated or otherwise seen as acceptable.

YANBU!!!! I do hope that was just his opinion and not the opinion of everybody! would def tell management as that kind of comment is not acceptable! Why should someone be sacked for having a baby???
