to complain about after school leader

Posting here as I hope I will get a decent response.

DD goes to After School Club. When she started the girl in charge was lovely and seemed to have some control over the kids. Unfortunately she has resigned and moved on.

The new leader is lovely but doesn't seem to have much control.

Also she is writing out the list of children every day as she hasn't access to the lists the previous leader had on the computer. I jokingly said that she is not being paid to do that but to look after the children.

One day when I arrived kids were running wild outside and climbing on the back of some benches that are outside. Another day DD and 3 others were in a hula hoop when I arrived and DD was crying. Staff were not intervening on either occasion. To be honest, they look a bit helpless.

I know kids are supposed to have fun and I'm not expecting after school to be too regimented but I just feel it is all a bit out of control.

Should I say something to the manager? I don't want to get anyone in trouble but it is starting to annoy me.

She shouldn't have to offer to help, after school club is a paid for ofsted registered childcare service.

complain if you aren't happy

SlartyBartFast · 28/04/2010 10:42

yes i know it wasnt a very helpful suggestion just seemed like a good idea.

who used to keep an eye on them outside before?

purlease · 28/04/2010 10:42

Unfortunately I'm at work which is why I'm using after school club.

However, I have offered on a number of occasions to create lists for her but she has declined. On Friday she said she would do it at the weekend but she is still writing them out this week. This probably frustrates me more - I have offered to help and she still looks exasperated at having to write them.

Club is commercially run rather than a voluntary organisation.

Previous leader was excellent and children appeared to respect her - still had fun!

Thanks for responses. I was just concerned that I was being a bit precious. But we are paying for DD to be cared for so I guess I should expect more.
