to think that camouflage clothing should be for people in the army

and not little boys? Am i alone in not wanting my DSs to aspire to join a profession that is so dangerous? Dont get me wrong i appreciate the fantastic job the armed forces do but can any mother with hand on heart actually say she wants her boy to be a soldier? I cant believe how many camouflage patterns adorn little boys clothes these days

YANBU. I've never bought camouflage clothing for DS as I've never wanted to dress my kids in military-style.

Dare I say it can also look a bit cheap and trashy?

taffetacat · 26/04/2010 13:17

Cheap and trashy? Tell that to the Boden buyers! There's always loads of it in the boy's section.

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2010 13:19

i quite like it in the cream/beige/brown shades.....but not so keen in the green or blue shades!!!

ooojimaflip · 26/04/2010 13:19

What about uniform fetishists and hunt saboteurs? I think YABU to expect manufacturors to narrow their market in this way.

Camo should be for anyone who needs to hide, get their rocks off or go to a mid '90s hard house rave.

Taffeta - I was thinking more of Asda

Soapsy · 26/04/2010 13:22

YANBU.

DH is in the Army, and I refuse to let my son wear anything vaguely military in pattern or style. But, more because I think it is hideous to have him dressed as a miniature of his father.

I have absolutely no problem if he decides to join up when he is old enough, and then he can wear as much uniform as he needs.

Ivykaty44 · 26/04/2010 13:24

my dd2 had a pair of combat trousers with an army type patern - I thought it was great as they dont show the dirt.

should combat trousers not be warn either as a style of the army or is it just the pattern?

5inthebed · 26/04/2010 13:29

YABU and slightly overthinking things.

fotheringhay · 26/04/2010 13:52

YANBU. I've always been a bit about military fashion.

But then I'm quite sensitive to anything I think glamourises war (clothing or otherwise).

scaryteacher · 26/04/2010 18:23

YABU - as lots have said it doesn't show the dirt and is hard wearing.

If my lad wanted to join HM Forces I'd be very proud of him, but them as a military daughter, wife and sister, I have a good insight into what really goes on, so can weigh up the risks accordingly.

OP - you fail to realise in your post that EVERY member of HM Forces is someone's child; so at least 100k+ parents live with it.

Please also note that all 3 services wear Camouflage gear, not just the Army. I get tired of pointing out that Afghanistan and Iraq are and were tri-service ops (yawn).
