My neighbour's are lovely but live on another planet! Last night at 8 o'clock she decided to mow her front lawn which woke up my 8 month old DD who is not a good sleeper.

I recovered from this and was off to bed just after 10 o'clock when there was a loud knock on the door. When I opened it there was my neighbour with a cake she had baked to say thankyou for a favour I had done for her. This was very kind of her but she again woke up DD!!!!!!!!!!

Should I say something or leave it unless it happens again?

Hi MrsG. Its always a bit awkward when it comes to this situation. My neighbours are generally quite quiet but sometimes will have people over and will be in their back garden til late and are not exactly quiet. I can feel myself tensing up over this but it is very difficult to tell people that they can't make a noise in their own property.
Perhaps when your neighbour came round with the cake you could have made of a point of whispering and saying DD's in bed so thanks but we'll pop round tomorrow to say a proper thank you. If you are fairly good friends with your neighbour you could mention to her in conversation that your DD doesn't sleep well and that even the smallest of noises wake her up then see if she takes the hint.
This is always going to be an awkward situation.

Thanks Bensmum, didn't have to worry about whispering when she came round as she could hear DD screaming!
The only thing I had to resist was commenting on the fact it was the second time in one night she had woken her!
