OK small rant!
Monday I was 3 days over my due date, I rang my surgery to book an app with my midwife for today, Friday, as I would be a week over. They told me they would not book me in as may have my baby between that time and If I had not I was to call Friday morning and they would DEFINITELY fit me in!
I have just got off the phone to the surgery who have told me she is fully booked and cant fit me in! and I should have booked sooner!!!!!!! Thoroughly P'd off I rang the midwife directly who had the same attitude. I got so upset on the phone as I'm so fed up mow of having absolutely no sign of my baby coming! The midwife cant see me until Monday at the earliest, I just cant believe it, I just want someone to help me. AIBU to think my midwife should either squeeze me in or reschedule someone of much less priority?

I think I triggered DD by eating a whole pineapple and going for a long walk in the snow.

They dont do sweeps here from your due date- only when you are a week over.

mazzystartled · 23/04/2010 11:06

babies come when they are good and ready and not before

i suggest denial. it works well for me. organise something really nice to do over the weekend. tat way it will either all kick off or you will have something to take your mind off it

OP YANBU because your surgery should be oozing tea and sympathy at this juncture, and because they misadvised you. can you ring them back and whinge a bit? might make you feel better

(39 weeks with DC3and halfway between denial and impatience myself)

When I was heavily pregnant, I found that turning up at clinics I was not booked into because of administrative errors and bursting into hormonal rage-like tears was very effective for being fitted in.

Just saying.

When I was expecting DD my antenatal care was done by midwives in one area, but the hosp I was booked into to give birth was in another county as this was nearer than the hosp in the county where I actually live. Both areas had different policies regarding sweeps, so when my midwife said they couldn't do it, I phoned my hosp and they agreed to let me come in for a sweep. It didn't work (ended up being induced at 10 days overdue) but if you really want one you could try phoning the hosp and asking. Worst that can happen is they'll say no. Good luck with your birth and new baby
