to hope that my neighbours won't have a Bar-BQ every sunny day of the summer...

like last year? I mean, I love Bar-BQs, but every day ? And they always put it right against our fence, so even with all the windows closed (if I get it done on time) my house smells, and my washing smells.
I know I am old fashioned by trying to wash on sunny days and not use a tumble dryer but I now have to wash all of yesterdays washing again and all of todays if I don't want it to smell.
Last year it was nearly every day. And it got quite annoying. I would come back from being out thinking that I would have lovely fresh, dry washing to iron or put away and instead I would have a garden full of smoke.
Disclaimer - yes I have the occasional BBQ but always try and put it as far away from everyone else's houses, and if I could see washing out I would try and let them know. And it wasn't every day.
and breathe..

Oh Riven, that's just really crappy behaviour from your neighbours. Puts my petty worries into perspective.

I have a CD player playing the sound of waves all night so that DD isn't disturbed by outside noises. Don't know if that would be a gentler noise for your DD?

Mouseface · 20/04/2010 15:55

God, do you all live on the other side of my Neighbours From Hell?

I love a barby as much as the next meat eating wench but for the love of cheese, do they have to have one nearly every day, with the TV, yes, the TV out in the garden and ALL of their DCs and their DCs there??

It's chaos. Beer, swearing, screaming DCs, blasting music from MTV - AAHHH!!! I'm sweating just thinking about the next one.

DS is disabled too and needs to sleep when he can (hardly at night, naps) and is in our room. That looks over their garden. Bugger.

I feel your pain!

Never mind BBQs what about the chimineas. My neighbour is a smoker who is not allowed to smoke indoors. What does he do nearly every evening or daytime at weekends, he lights a chiminea about 15 feet from my back sittingroom. I have lumps of wood ash on my roof and all over my garden furniture and patio. I have a chiminea but it is 25 mtrs away from the property so very little smoke goes into houses or surrounding gardens. How do I cope with this without telling his wife she should let him smoke indoors to protect the neighbours environment.

You all sound like me. We know that every single sunny day will be dominated by the neighbours stinky bbq, the droning of their hot tub with related splashing and shrieks, their radio (God how I hate that, especially football) and their constantly yapping mutts. The dogs only stop yapping for a few minutes after they've been screamed at, which doesn't really help! Just occasionally we'd like to relax in peace in our garden or enjoy a quiet meal out there but it's impossible unless they go on holiday. Unfortunately our living rooms are at the back of the houses (and our bedroom is above that) so even indoors there is no escape. I try so hard not to let it get to me but sometimes I am just seething!

I hate confrontation but have plucked up the courage to complain about their dogs but the reply was "that's what little dogs do". Well not if you train them they don't Angry.

Good job you don't live near me, our neighbours are known to fire up the barbie for breakfast and we have 2 or 3 a week in the summer Grin

valiumredhead · 10/01/2011 18:23

Yapping dogs would drive me insane Pixel!

i am moving to my first house that has a garden in a few weeks, and was relishing the thought of being able to have barbeques for the first time ever this summer. Shall think twice now.

Jen63 · 04/06/2019 12:25

My neighbours are the same, drives me insane, it's so selfish. The smell is horrible on clothes too so I have to keep bringing washing in.
They also have the bbq on a raised area against the fence grrr.
Why do these people also have huge families that seem to live at their house too? Can't they off to someone else's house for a change?!

BarbaraofSevillle · 04/06/2019 12:27

I suppose it would be unreasonable if they've had a barbecue every day for the past 8 years.

TheDeflector · 04/06/2019 12:49

Those of you having cremated crap sausages and burgers are doing it wrong.

ZOMBIE

I might have a go at the Euromillions on Friday. If I win, I'll buy a plot of land and build some houses. They'll only be rented to dull people like me who will abide by my 'community laws' ie, no BBQs, no hot tubs, no bonfires, no noisy DIY on a Sunday, no loud music, no screaming kids, no screeching during sex, no screaming rows....you get the idea. Each house will have at least 3 parking spaces so no parking wars. Am I on to a winner? Who wants to put their name down for a house?

mouldyhousemouldylife · 04/06/2019 13:16

"Bar-bq" ...

mouldyhousemouldylife · 04/06/2019 13:17

Oh fucking zombie

Bar-bq the thread

fairweathercyclist · 04/06/2019 13:22

I don't understand BBQs either. What's the point of an undercooked burnt sausage?

fairweathercyclist · 04/06/2019 13:23

AAAAGH why do I always fall for this. Because I don't read the whole thread.

But why do you post on a thread which says it is over a year old??????
