..to wonder about BA?

...will they still blame the strikers should they go bust?

They seem pretty quiet on this one... they're not even going to withdraw Eyjafjallajokull's flight privileges.

A clear case of double standards if you ask me.

Oh tethersend, YA so NBU.

And may I say, what an insightful and well written OP.

Well done.

Lol at the fact you took pains to spell that volcano correctly, and were ignored

tethersend · 19/04/2010 18:34

I agree with tethersend.

I am still annoyed with BA for pulling the Manchester to JFK flight that made us drive to Heathrow. And terminal 5 is shit.

Good spelling btw

FickleFairy · 19/04/2010 18:40

BA = Bad Attitude!

MrsMellowdrummer · 19/04/2010 18:47

They're asking the gov, in other words tax payers, for compensation now aren't they, and are losing several millions a day.

I can't see anybody being that sympathetic.

Silver1 · 19/04/2010 21:33

All of the major European airlines are asking for compensation from the EU through their government to make up for lost revenue.
It is partly because the airlines have been saying it is safe to fly and the governments and Brussels have said no.

amidaiwish · 19/04/2010 21:38

why should they get compensation?
when the snow halted all post/deliveries, i didn't see web/mail order retailers getting compensation for lack of business?
and after being hit by the Royal Mail strike too...

babblington · 19/04/2010 21:53

my husband is stranded in washington. he has finally, after 4 days of absolute silence, been given a flight home next Wednesday. After looking on the internet we found they are SELLING flights on Tuesday, Monday, etc - i.e. those that are completely stranded are not highest on the pecking order to get home, unless you can cough up 8 THOUSAND POUNDS to get on an earlier flight. BA are immoral. Corrupt. Evil.

Snobear4000 · 19/04/2010 22:09

I think Terminal 5 is terrific, and easily the only good thing BA have ever done. Oh and their bloody marys are ok. I must say I do fear the outcome whenever my employer books me on Bad Attitude airways.

amidaiwish · 19/04/2010 23:25

that is despicable babblington. get on to the Press.

Nymphadora · 20/04/2010 23:17

We travelled to the depths of terminal 5 to find our gate only to find that we couldn't getback out of our waiting area due to second security searches. Couldn't even shop! Good job we took food in with us as we planned breakfast while we waited.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 20/04/2010 23:24

Does anyone else find it ironic that BA staff were threatening to strike over the Easter holiday period, and it was going to be a major deal, and now this volcano has knocked the strike right out of the headlines- you can't strike if you can't work anyway!

Hmm- could Willy-Wonka-BA-boss-guy (cannot suddenly remember his name) have somehow CAUSED the eruption?? After all, now NO airlines are flying, and BA are looking for compensation for a period where they might have been cancelling flights anyway. Competition can't benefit, BA cashing in...

(I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist)

Silver1 · 21/04/2010 09:41

Joolyjoolyjoo perhaps rather than WW it was the cabin crew stamping their feet at having to work a bit harder that caused the eruption-which I suppose could then be traced back to WW insisting on it.

WW has said the skies should never have been shut, the data was flawed, and it was always known some aircraft had the high threshold to ash, and I think that's why he is demanding compensation.
