Because I never get anything in return?

Its not really a cycle is it if you just give and give with no return?!

I've given away some really good stuff like lovely buggies, clothes for babies, leather office chairs, books,

But not once have I been offered anything that I've asked for, not even crappy things like 'bits of material for quilting' lol

My relies are always polite, I say please and thankyou, tell them I can collect at their conviniance and leave a number, but nothing.

The filter-by-date thing on YahooGroups is broken (our local Freegle group), makes it much harder to find Wanted ads. Is this a common Yahoo groups problem?

I relish giving away of stuff that (mostly) would otherwise go to the tip. But I agree I'd rather sell it myself or at least give to a charity shop where possible.

We are giving away a chainsaw today!

The only Freegle thing that narks me is no-further-reply / no-show collectors (GRRRRRRrrrrr).

I used to be a manic freecycler but - I dunno - have got a bit bored with it recently. I found I used to get given a lot of stuff because I used to give away lots of stuff so people would recognise my name.

What put me off it was a spate of collecting things - often from miles away - that turned out to be crap. Like an ancient stained and broken mattress that was fit for nothing but the tip and a bag of clothes with holes/rips in*. Freecycle is great for getting rid of usable stuff you don't want but some people use it to offload rubbish because they can't be arsed to go to the tip.

* please no comments suggesting I am ungrateful. The items really were fit for nothing but the tip/rag bag.
