Am new here and hope to get some good advice. My neighbour is playing loud music frequently and has been asked to turn it off several occasions. However the worst of it is she has small children and the youngest cries but she still keeps the music on.

What can I do ?

Thanks

I feel sorry for you being in the situation you are in as we have been in similar in the past. Doesnt fit the criteria for a referral to Social Services though unless you have other evidence/concerns about mums parenting. Wishing you luck with getting help from the Council/CAB etc.

I feel sorry for the baby's ears.

Link to direct.gov about ASBO's and nuisance neighbours

www.direct.gov.uk/en/CrimeJusticeAndTheLaw/CrimePrevention/DG_4001652

I would also be inclined to not only keep a diary but report it to the relevant bod at the council every single time it happens. They will soon get pissed off with your persistence and hopefully get their fingers out quicker to put a stop to it as you can only get an ASBO in conjunction with the local council and police.

Best of luck.

I suppose only time will tell with this.
I shall be on the blower non stop from Monday on.

I have in the past reported her dog - as he was out in the cold when there was snow. He had absolutely no shelter and we had to endure his crying. So for the benfit of his health I contacted local RSPCA and they visited. A dog kennel then appeared.

I think this is the reason for her loud music as pay back - and all I was doing was looking out for the dog. Its never walked either and barks alot too.

OP do you share the same neighbour as me?!!!?!

We had this last year and the year before, also heard the dog barking and howling at night because it had been left out during the winter months - I phoned but there's nothing they could do. Can't see the dog from where I live but you can hear it loud enough.

itsnice - some people are so inconsiderate. Get on to your neighbours landlord. Make a nuisence of yourself with their landlord. Thats what we had to do to stop our neighbours anti-social behaviour.

littlesez · 17/04/2010 20:18

If you are genuinely concerned about the welfare of a child then do not hesitate to contact social services. If you are thinking about contacted them to help you to stop a nuisance neighbour then YABU

I sympathise with your situation she sounds like a bitch

I have NO sympathy for anyone who blasts music when they live in a non-detached environment.

NONE.

Get a pair of headphones! They come wireless and cheap nowadays!

People like this make other people's lives a fucking nightmare.

I'd nag the council in writing over and over again, send your logs to them, send your logs to your MP, record it all with a camcorder, too, contact the local press even see the CAB about what legal action you might be able to take against the landlord.

Seriously, I have had to live with neighbours like this time and again and it it is utterly soul-destroying.

And yeah, I'd gladly call SS on her.

'Its only really when other people experience annoying neighbours do they actually understand the impact it has on someones mental health.

We may pop to see a solictior to find out our rights. '

Absolutely! We have been there, too, itsnice. And am pulling for you.
