How long to respond to an email?

I have namechanged for this [pathetic emoticon]

Currently 34 weeks pregnant. I sent an email with a signed contract and deposit to the doula I have engaged. This was 4 days ago, and she has not got back to me to acknowledge the email or respond to questions.

She had said in our preliminary chat that she would expect to hear from me when I wanted to meet or make contact so I expected to take the initiative. This is fine. But I am a bit gutted that she has not responded now. I'm generally not very outgoing (constantly apologising to friends for going to ground) and feel stressed(and a bit put out) that I will have to chase her.

AIBU?

Well she should have replied, but you could be a bit more proactive (sorry really don't want to upset a heavily pregnant woman!)

email her a follow up now, before the weekend.

Have you communicated by email before - if not, perhaps your email went into her spam folder in error?

Perhaps she is away and hasn't accessed her emails.

I would telephone and ask.

She could be away for a few days? (Easter school hols)

Or your email could have been marked as Spam by her ISP & been filed in 'junk' (this happened to us with a critical email to our solicitor when we were arranging our house purchase!)?

TBH I would always follow up an important email with a phone call if I hadn't heard back in a day or so, I have had too much experience of emails going astray.

Yes YABU Phone her - say just want to check you got my email. She could be attending to along labour perhaps.

If you're annoyed concerned, call and see if she got it. It's important. Not like you're ordering a pack of coloured pencils on-line is it?!!

I doubt she'e being rude, more busy.

Lots of possible explanations I hadn't considered - I will give her a ring. Thanks
