everything of importance. holiday being booked and paid for, passports sorted out, insurance. I just filled in all passport forms..all dh had to do was sign, so he did this massive scribbly signature that went out all the lines deeming it invalid.....so now I will have to go to the post office and get another one or it wont happen at all.aaaaah! all forms for school admissions for kids done by me, doctors appointments, food shopping, meal planning, the list is endless. I just get really fed up of it sometimes.

I know what you mean. I do all the paper work stuff because I know it won't get done by DH, and I am more organised.

What really gets my back up though, is the "why haven't you done this yet?" Grrrrr.

Also, tell him to go to the post office and get another form, stupid idiot for signing such a big signature making it invalid!

Let him sort out his own passport, tell him if it's not back in time then it'll just be you and the DC going.

I prefer booking holidays myself as at least I'll get what I want. I once let DH book a trip to India - he tried to see the whole bloody country in just under a fortnight. We were up nearly every morning at 5am to catch a flight to the next place, except for the days that we spent 6 or 7 hours in the car.

I tend not to get annoyed anymore as it makes no difference to DH's behaviour. I say things like "Oh no, what a pain for you the passport office have rejected your application. I hope you're able to sort it out in time and not miss the holiday with me and the DC."

i usually get fed up too, then remind myself that i never have to worry about money coming into the house. and when the car doesnt work, i just blame him, and he eventually sorts it out. or , well, loads of stuff.
he has his stuff he does, and i have mine, just have to remind myself of these blessings.

Yes same here - and I also work full time and am the main wage earner . I too get the 'have you done this' or 'why havent you...' or the classis 'I think we need to sort this form out' about 3 months after I have already done it and the deadline.

A favourite line of his as well is 'What do we need to do to sort out...' despite the fact it will be me!

woahthere · 11/04/2010 15:23

peppa...at least yours has the awareness to know that something needs doing at some point...

Don't baby him, whoahthere. Anything to do with dh directly, eg his passport or his car, needs to be done by him. Imagine you are groomng a teenager for independance. If he moans, remind him that there is nothing more unsexy than having to treat your husband like one of the kids.

CirrhosisByTheSea · 11/04/2010 16:19

woahthere, I totally agree with you

but don't be a martyr - he can go to the post office and get another himself.

but yes in general it is very annoying to be the driving force in a home and not to feel that anything would be done without you getting behind it.

bran · 11/04/2010 17:15

Email him a link to the online application. He fills it in online, they post it out, he signs it and sends it back with the photos. You do ... nothing.

This happened at our house. I had a really gorgeous time in the sun with my two boys whilst DH luxuriated in the heavy rain at home. All because he refused to reapply for his 'lost' passport (it's in his office somewhere but I'm darned if I can find it!).
