My DH just came home from the store with a packet of these godawful things. For those that aren't aware of these super stylish things here's a link

nickelbabe · 10/04/2010 15:18

ooh, no YABU.
i like those!

JustGem · 10/04/2010 15:21

Awww lol I'm sure he meant well...

Shaz10 · 10/04/2010 15:22

Nobody knows why we buy JML things. We just do.

piprabbit · 10/04/2010 15:23

For the love of little green men, why? Have you ever shown signs of being inclined to this sort of thing? Dropped any kind of hint that could be misinterpreted? Or did he think of it all by himself?

Perhaps you should buy him a peace offering... one of these perhaps?

AvadaKedavra · 10/04/2010 15:34

I feel so insulted!
Piprabbit I like your thinking but it's not nearly naff enough.

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 10/04/2010 15:40

they look quite good actually.
Did he buy them for a special occasion?
Or just because he thought you might like them?
Or was he having a dig and suggesting that you needed tidying up a bit?

If option 1 or 3, then YANBU.
If option 2, then YABU and you should be happy that your DH even thinks about buying you random stuff that he thinks you might like, even if he is completely misguided. Wish mine even thought about it
(bitter, moi?)

piprabbit · 10/04/2010 15:42

I think that any product that encourages a 30something year old man to go 'safari' style is quite naff enough thank you very much... .

Will put my thinking cap on (so to speak).

I got some from a friend; she got them from Glastonbury... is that more "hip" than JML? It was certainly a damn sight cheaper!

it's lovely; all wooden beading and makes a change from an elastic band

AvadaKedavra · 10/04/2010 15:50

Glastonbury would definitely be more hip than JML yes

I don't even have enough hair to use one which is another reason why I am baffled as to his purchase!

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 10/04/2010 15:52

perhaps he's hinting that he'd like you to grow your hair longer? I know lots of men do prefer longer hair...

mumdrivenmad · 10/04/2010 22:32

I am going to make myself some but with swarovski crystal beads instead of plastic ones

RustyBear · 10/04/2010 22:49

They may want to re-think the name of the product featured at the bottom of that page

Cartoose · 10/04/2010 22:55

I think they look quite good actually

fuzzypicklehead · 11/04/2010 09:27

I would use those happily, but I would be mystified if my husband bought them for me. But it could be worse... It could have been a ped-egg!

Re: getting the "bandarf" as retaliation, we've been using those for years! (never heard them called that, though!) They started as a motorbiking thing, where bikers wanted something to cover their neck and chin under their skid lid. But I quickly snaffled my husbands and then bought more because they come in so handy. I keep them in my nappy bag in case I need a spare hat/scarf/bib/skirt for my baby or toddler. It's much harder to whip one of those off and fling it out of the pram than your average sunhat. But I would say it's fair to refuse to purchase anything called a "bandarf" on principle.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/04/2010 09:30

Unless it was a present for the best blow-job ever yabu.

ChippingIn · 11/04/2010 13:07

Oh for the love of all things furry - divorce him and sue him for mental cruelty.

My Mum asked me if I'd ever tried them (they were selling them at a show the other day) - I just looked at her and shook my head - it's all you can do ...

jurisfictionoperative · 11/04/2010 23:35

It could have been a ped egg
you mean everyone doesn't grate the hard skin from their feet while watching tv?

NoahAndTheWhale · 12/04/2010 00:13

at the bumpits

AvadaKedavra · 12/04/2010 21:06

still haven't decided if I can forgive him

MilkNoSugarPlease · 12/04/2010 23:42

I want one for the IDEA of it but they look 'orrid! i want a classy one

coralanne · 13/04/2010 08:01

Yikes! I almost bought my DD one yesterday.

They were being demonstrated by some lovely asian ladies with beautiful long hair.

My DD has lovely long hair almost to her waist but I'm getting tired of always seeing it in a ponytail.

I thought these would make a difference. They came in all different shapes and colours.

Some of them were really nice.

Usually I look around to see if there is someone from her age group there and ask their opinion.

Once bought DGS a zip up jacket and asked the young mum next to me with a small DS, if it was a mum type jacket or a grandma one. She laughed and said it was definitely a mum style one.

topsi · 13/04/2010 08:12

LOL Fairycake

theyoungvisiter · 13/04/2010 08:19

Well at least we know who is buying at that JML tat. Avada's DH apparently!

It's always mystified me how a company that sells nothing but over priced plastic "innovations" can manage to afford constant TV advertising.

AvadaKedavra · 13/04/2010 10:55

I've got my revenge I downloaded a pile of pan pipes and folky-schmokey music and filled his iPod with it, just a shame he forgot it this morning! Roll on tomorrow
