What do you do when you really dislike a pet?

I am an animal lover but since being a child have had somewhat of a fear/dislike of cats. I just cannot get on with them. DH had 2 cats when I moved in here though so I knew I'd have to tolerate them.

Anyway after all these years, I just can't anymore. One of them is just not very nice at all. It spits and lashes out just as you walk past, it sits at the bottom of the bird table waiting until it can kill one. Yesterday it killed a mouse and left it wriggling in agony on the grass (why?? it had no intention of eating it!?) it constantly steals food (and yes it does get fed enough) it curls up on beds and lashes out if you try and get it off. I've just caught it trying to grab the guinea pigs through the bars.

WIBU to insist on reholming it?

rehoming it becasue it behaves like a cat?

or more accurately rehoming it just becasue you don't like it.

you knew he had cats and chose to move in, end of story... and for what it's worth the cat probably lashes out at you because it can tell you don't like it and is scared of you.

you cant get rid of your dh elderly cat, nobody is going to rehome it so will probably be put down. Some cats are anti social, my 14 yr old cat sounds exactly the same tbh. My dh isn't keen on her (she does look a bit raggedy around the edges now) but id be horrified if he suggested getting rid.

I would try really hard to rehouse it. Have you discussed this with your dp. Would put a stop to the cat sleeping on the bed as it bothers you. I think that how you feel in what is now your home takes precedence over the cats tbh.

Seen your other threads.

Why are you worrying about the cat when you're moving out?
