Went to boots to ask about buying domperidone ,as have heard from someone at LLL that it stimulates breast milk production and i want to try and relactate . There was a lady sitting near the pharmacy counter waiting i presume for a pescription, anyway she clearly overheard my discussion and decided to add her twopenneth worth by saying she thought breastffeding was 'disgusting' and that my baby looked old enough to be on solids anyway . Ordinarily i would of ignored her ,but im feeling a bit out of sorts at the moment and evil to boot ,so i said 'why do you think its disgusting ?' and then before she could answer i said 'oh is it becuase you are confusing it with the nipple tweeking most men call foreplay ? oh its a completely different sensation to the radio tuning nipple fondling in sex and anyone who equates breast feeding with anything remotely sexual must have a very sick mind ,dont you think ' and then turned my back before she could answer ,but lets just say the word 'agog' couldnt have been a more apt word for the look on her face

I am so impressed you thought of something so excellant to say to the horrible old bag!

sadly whenever i'm in these situations i get flustered and stutter at them and then spend the next week angrily reciting in my head what i should have said

Well done you.... have a to celebrate

HerBeatitude · 07/04/2010 14:06

ROFL at all that, but am slightly concerned about radio-tuning fondling.

What will happen to foreplay in the digital age?

Well done you!

Bumperliciouzzzzzz · 07/04/2010 14:54

LOL, well done! I don't think I would have been so eloquent!

StealthPolarBear · 07/04/2010 14:57

i think the pharmacist should have said something to her to - as someone else said aren't these conversations meant to be fairly private? Privacy at the counter and all that - or is that the post office??

seaturtle · 07/04/2010 14:59

Brilliant

l39 · 07/04/2010 16:06

If she goes about forcing her nutty opinions on people, she can't complain about being educated in return.

Good for you.

Jacksmama · 07/04/2010 16:10

OMFG!! You are my hero. Well done you. Disgusting, my arse. How dare she butt in like that. I'd have wanted to slap the old bitch.

RooBear · 07/04/2010 16:11

brilliant, probably would of burst into tears at something like that, I don't do rudeness, well done you

Rhian82 · 07/04/2010 16:23

Oh well done, I'm so impressed, that's brilliant!

GoldenSnitch · 07/04/2010 16:30

Well done you!

I'd have flustered and probably ended up telling her to fuck off

JaneS · 07/04/2010 17:11
Grin
pigletmania · 07/04/2010 17:13

Well done you , that will teach her some manners, to be so rude to evasdrop and comment on a private conversation.

BikeRunSki · 07/04/2010 17:16

Fab. super. You have made me smile.

I have not shopped at Boots since the girl on the till refused to sell me formula when DS was abour 2 months old, and had a go about how I should be breastfeeding. She didn;t stop to think about why I might be bottle feeding, or how I felt about it.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 07/04/2010 17:17

Very good response OP. Polite and eloquent. She should have not have commented on something she was evesdropping on.

However, I don't think the age of the lady was mentioned in the OP. I expect she was an old bitch though

Danthe4th · 07/04/2010 17:17

Lol, thats amazing to have come out with that, I would have cheered you. I only ever think of things to say after the event.
You've made my day.

scrimble · 07/04/2010 17:19

This meddling woman sounds really horrible. Interfering, inappropriate, nasty...etc etc

But why the assumption that she's old?

pigletmania · 07/04/2010 17:21

BikeRunSki how long ago was this! Jamie the op is a very good example of how to handle a difficult situation and put people in their place without making yourself look bad, though underneath you might want to scream and shout abuse to that person old or young

Jamieandhismagictorch · 07/04/2010 17:22

Hi piglet !

MorrisZapp · 07/04/2010 17:25

She came over and told you you were disgusting? That's unbelievable.

pigletmania · 07/04/2010 17:26

hi jamie how are you. I remember not so long ago there were a couple of threads on here about mums that did not handle situations at all well, and yes they were old though. By reading on here, i am beginning to learn new things, i am yet to encountre a situation though sods law it will probably happen soon when my dd starts to throw a wobbly in the street and some person stops to tell me what a rubbish mum i am

JeremyVile · 07/04/2010 17:26

Wow.
That is unbelievable.

bibbitybobbityhat · 07/04/2010 17:29

I sincerely hope you reported that about a sales assistant in Boots refusing to sell you formula and lecturing you on breastfeeding BikeRunSki.

OP - your story certainly seems to have made a lot of people's day on here!

Miggsie · 07/04/2010 17:29

bumpsoon...completely fab...I am afraid I was a bit more direct when soemone told me BF was disgusting as I just said "well, you prat, what the hell do you think tits are actually FOR then?"

I am not famed for my tact.
