AIBU to have eaten a good chunk of dd's easter goodies already?

so far I've eaten one and a half easter eggs, 4 "chick" biscuits, a caramel bunny, some smarties, 2 packets of rollos and some chocolate buttons. There's about all that again left and she's 2.10 ... she'll never know (wish I could say the same about my thighs).

Good effort in the cause of her health or AIBU?

Have never eaten my kids' Easter stuff. It was bought for them. It would be like me spending their birthday money. If you think she gets too much chocolate then ask folk to buy her less, otherwise it keeps for ages. Why the rush to eat it? My son can still have Easter Eggs left in July (which I find very odd)
Sounds like you need to buy yourself some Easter stuff so you can leave hers alone.

beesonmummyshead · 06/04/2010 17:31

YANBU. Or at least if you are then me and my thighs are too

Bigpants1 · 06/04/2010 17:32

Perhaps, since you have enjoyed her chocolate, you could get her a small toy that she will enjoy. You get the goodies and save her from the eeevils of chocolate. Win, win!

ElenorRigby · 06/04/2010 17:33

YANBU
DP finishes off most of the Easter choc, in the interests of the kids of course, they get so much choc.
He has an annoying ability to eat or drink anything full of fat, carbs, sugar or booze and turn it into muscle. Very annoying!

MissWooWoo · 06/04/2010 17:34

clearly you have never met my mother 2rebecca

if YABU so am I although, this easter I haven't eaten quite as much as 3 years ago when poor dd didn't get to eat much of it(she was nearly 3) but in my defence I had bought most of it and I was 9 months pg at the time so I needed it

TBH I don't see the problem, presumably you buy her food so it's not like she'll miss out. and 2Rebecca it's not the same as spending their birthday money is it?

gorionine · 06/04/2010 17:39

Yanbu to eat easter goodies but Yabu to eat your Dcs ones

KAEKAE · 06/04/2010 17:40

YANBU! What's wrong iwth sharing? My two and half year old always shares his choc with me!

MissWooWoo · 06/04/2010 17:41

I have allowed her to eat some it of course and there is a ton left!

In my defence, er, I am just back from holiday and feeling cold - it's cheering me up

MissWooWoo · 06/04/2010 17:43

c'mon it's not the same as spending birthday money - you'll be saying eating grapes in the supermarket is stealing next

inchhighprivateeye · 06/04/2010 17:46

YABU Kids' chocolate is rank. When DD was that age I used to bin the excess. Did you really eat all that over the last few days? Are you underweight and trying to pack on the pounds?

YarninMonkey · 06/04/2010 17:50

YANBU.....and thats all i'm saying!!

OTTMummA · 06/04/2010 17:53

I wouldn't alike it to stealing/spending her bday money on yourself.

I think if you eat it and don't replace it with either more chocolate or a toy or some money in her bank account then yes YADBU.
A nibble is excusable, but seriously can not believe you've eaten all that chocolate since sunday!
worse still its all plastic chocolate ugh!

MissWooWoo · 06/04/2010 17:59

I know! it really is very greedy, although not sure what "plastic" chocolate is

blinder · 06/04/2010 18:00

My son just broke his egg and offered me half of it. It's a tradition! Carry on. That was far too much chocolate for a two year old anyway.

juneybean · 06/04/2010 18:01

She's only 3! It'll rot her teeth, you're doing her a favour!

TeddyBare · 06/04/2010 18:01

YANBU just get your dd something fun and eastery which she can enjoy - maybe spend the afternoon planting seeds to grow into flowers or something.
My 10 month old dd was given 4 easter eggs this year and I've been wondering what to do with them. One is a yummy Hotel Chocolat one too which I will feel less guilty about eating now.

MissWooWoo · 06/04/2010 18:03

I also ate all the chocolate "treats" she was given the christmas before last when she was only 18 months old. rather me than her.

OTTMummA · 06/04/2010 18:03

childrens chocolate looks and bends like plastic to me, and it tastes bloomin awful lol.
Its not really chocolate, just like squirty cream isn't really cream in my book oooh and plastic squares of orange cheese lol.
I know im weird.

MissWooWoo · 06/04/2010 18:04

oic what you mean. well clearly I would have preferred green and blacks 70% but beggers and all that

HappyBump · 06/04/2010 18:08

YANBU ... I'm considering doing the same... in my defense it is because my DS threw up his dinner after eating barely any chocolate on Easter Sunday ... so I am justifying it in case he has a severe chocolate allergy

LittleMrsHappy · 06/04/2010 18:09

Id buy my sc something else.
Both of mine got 41 Easter eggs between them one is allergic to dairy.

Today we made rice crispy cakes, and tomorrow were going to my work to give some away to the children.

I still have Easter eggs and selection boxes from last year. We are not a sweet household.

TheSteelFairy2 · 06/04/2010 18:12

My dc are the only grandchildren in the family and have five aunties. They get enough Easter Eggs to sink the Titanic. I am doing them a favour by taking some of them of their hands!

IMVHO it is absolutely NOTHING like spending their birthday money, which is beyond the pale and I would never do.

AppleHEAD · 06/04/2010 18:13

No no not even slightly you have to be kidding. Its not spending birthday money it's just a load of chocolate. It's not like your selling her to buy crack!

TottWriter · 06/04/2010 18:16

Nooooo! My DS is 2 tomorrow and will eat (almost) all of his chocolate - once he finishes off the stuff he got at Christmas. It keeps for ages and is a great way to not have to buy him any. Then he gets it as treats in small amounts.

I could never just eat my DS's easter goodies, though if your DD really had twice as much as you've just scoffed, I guess having a little wouldn't seem so bad. I have eaten the stuff that's blatantly unsuitable for my DS (My nan got him two creme eggs) so in your position I would still probably have scoffed the Rolos and possibly the caramel bunny depending upon the size, but buttons? Aww, they're ideal for children. That seems a little rotten.

In summary, that's a bit unreasonable. It does seem a little too much like pinching it because you can and then trying to justify it with 'well it won't do her any good' retrospectively. If you'd said in advance to people not to buy chocolate then fair enough, but as it is, you should really allow her to eat it herself. Apart from the caramel stuff of course. I'd worry about choking hazards or being sick with that stuff and a child so young.
