Sorry I am of the opinion that we should follow it closely, democracy like it or not is all we have and people have died so women could vote ( sappy arguement I know)

deaddei · 06/04/2010 13:43

I am in 2 minds who to vote for, so I will be watching closely. Do they come knocking on your doors any more?

Tiredmumno1 · 06/04/2010 13:43

Its a load of bollox, can any of them imbeciles actually run a country

strandedatsea · 06/04/2010 13:45

Just be glad you're not American, the election campaign goes on for about twelve years. I think it's very civilised having such a short campaign period.

I'm just sad as I will miss most of the excitement as I don't live in the UK at the moment. Even my vote will be by proxy which just isn't the same!

I love a good election I do.

I stay up for all the results and everything.

deaddei · 06/04/2010 13:48

Oh Tiger Woods yesterday- dh had the whole interview on ffs.
Just go and hit balls with your stick, you stupid little man. You're only sorry because you GOT CAUGHT.
(goes to calm down)

fallon8 · 06/04/2010 13:49

I do know what you mean, when I see young women falling out out of nightclubs, engaging in marathon sex session with "celebrities" etc. I think, Emily pankhurst killed herself for you to behave like that, she would be so proud.
No, they dont come to the door, thank God, its the endless talk,it just seems to dominate everyhting, but at least we wont have Cherie back!

Nothing iritates me more than someone bleating on about how people died so we could vote, no they didn't, they died so we had the right to choose.

YABU. As well as all the 'people died so that..' stuff which I do believe, it's only once every 5 years and there are 7 million tv channels so just switch over if it bugs you! Personally I, like the posters above, am excited things are moving now. I am another genuinely undecided voter so am hoping they now get on and announce actual policy so that I can make my mind up.

EightiesChick · 06/04/2010 13:58

MorrisZapp Me too! Will be making a big pot of coffee after the polls close on the 6th and watching eagerly.

smallwhitecat Ugh, Mandelson is such a patronising fecker. He's a major factor in my disillusionment with Labour.

ImSoNotTelling · 06/04/2010 13:59

"I do know what you mean, when I see young women falling out out of nightclubs, engaging in marathon sex session with "celebrities" etc. I think, Emily pankhurst killed herself for you to behave like that, she would be so proud."

Where did that come from?
What does it mean?

Anyhoo.
I love a good election, staying up to watch the results, going and voting, it's all very exciting IMO love it

Our local bloke was the twat who said that he wanted the results done the next day as he didn't like having to stay up late. Yes that will really add to people's engagement won't it, all the results coming in while everyone's at work

ImSo

Yeah, boo hoo at having to stay up late one night in 5 years! It is exciting to have the overnight stuff too. I still remember the Portillo announcement

ABetaDad · 06/04/2010 14:05

I am fed up with the campaign already.

Just want the leaders debates for the next 3 days then election night on Friday.

It would make no difference to the result if it was 4 days and not 4 weeks.

KAEKAE · 06/04/2010 14:05

They are all as bad as one another..

strandedatsea · 06/04/2010 14:10

Abetadad - there's a thought, speed electing. Like speed dating. The election is called, each leader gets exactly three minutes TV time to make their main points then we all have to vote.

ImSoNotTelling · 06/04/2010 14:11

I just wonder how a politician who is up for re-election can have the nerve to say that he's not interested or excited in hearing his own result.

Twat.

You're not alone.

My DH informed me, as the news reader spouted more utter gubbins about the elections, that we have another month of this spin and shite. It all seems so american these days!

JoeyBettany · 06/04/2010 14:35

err- it was Emily Davison who died for the suffragette cause, not Emmeline Pankhurst.

ABetaDad · 06/04/2010 14:37

herbie/mouseface - agreed. Yes it is the wall-to-wall media blitz that is getting on my wick. Not so much the campaign itself.

I sometimes wonder if we could reduce TV licence fees and Sky fees without any noticeble effect if we just sacked half the media staff. I am sure there are too many media types just wandering about looking for
something to report on.

mintyfresh · 06/04/2010 20:30

Yes - has been wall to wall election coverage on News 24 today already. They are delighted they actually have something to talk about for a change!

We should all take an interest - otherwise this election will only be about satisfying the needs of the older generation who WILL go and vote. I can't wait for a political candidate to come round to my house so I can get started on them

fallon8 · 06/04/2010 22:09

which was the lady who threw herself under the horse on derby day in front of the King?
Would she think it had been worth it if she came back?
