Hotels that are "Gay friendly" ???

Hi, I was looking for a hotel neer the airport yesterday and as I was reading about it I was quite to see that listed with the tea, coffee making facilities, free parking etc was gay friendly. Shouldn't that go without saying? It's like saying "non racist" or something.
I just thought that was really sad. We have a couple of lovely gay friends and I can't imagine any hotel being hostile to them.

I suspect that it's an advert left over from the time before the law changed - it's a very recent change, which is why this B&B case has hit the news - a couple of years ago it would have been perfectly legal for any business to refuse to serve gay people - hence an advert saying Gay Friendly would serve as a useful guarantee that a gay couple would not be turned away or refused a double bed. But beyond that, it guarantees that a gay couple will not get nasty looks or comments (to their face or behind their back), and will feel welcomed.
