[http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e25/loulabellecelino/icandy010.jpg THIS] arrived with my spring plants order from Spalding today. Its a free gift. DH wants to put it in the back yard, I think its nauseatingly twee and would rather put it straight on freecycle.
AIBU to NOT want this in my back yard (if anyone ever saw it I would die of shame....)

My mother likes these kind of things.

It's horrible, I'm not sure I'd even want to own up to it on freecycle.

faddle · 03/04/2010 22:11

Catsdontscreetch - its ok, I would use HIS freecycle account......... and he would arrange the collection.
He's still insisting the kids will love it.
If my parents had taken me outside and proudly shown me something like that in the back garden I would probably have run screaming indoors and rung childline........

YANBU good grief there would be an accident that would just happen to be the cats fault (even though we don't have a cat - got to be one in the area!)

pigletmania · 04/04/2010 00:04

AWww its really cute, I love it ]

displayuntilbestbefore · 04/04/2010 00:06

YANBU but why not call his bluff and say you will only have it if it can go in your front garden right by your front door so everyone on the road can enjoy it.
Then see what he says

2rebecca · 04/04/2010 00:13

If you have young kids keep it, if you don't freecycle.
I like naff kitsch though but only indulged when kids young, middle aged woman and gnomes/gonks are a sad combination.

Quattrocento · 04/04/2010 00:16

No, don't freecycle it. You won't get any takers and then feel you have to keep it.

You can either:

(a) give it to someone you don't like at all, OR

(b) wrap it carefully and throw it in the bin. You need to wrap it carefully in case the binmen point and laugh.

muminthemiddle · 04/04/2010 00:20

Well I actually like it!!!!

Though I don't actually own anything like it.

It is what I would have in my fantasy garden, rather like how I would have a floral pinny and a blue kitchen in my fantasy house with gingham curtains and the like. Whereas in reality my kitchen is very modern and cream!!!

Quattrocento · 04/04/2010 00:22

YOU HAVE A SOLUTION, OP!!!!

You send it to muminthemiddle.

The thread has achieved its objective

Yay

gtamom · 04/04/2010 04:39

Don't let my dh see it. He love gnomes, and they are now invading my kitchen! (One on top of the water cooler, one with a broom beside my broom and mop)

faddle · 04/04/2010 08:22

well thats it, its staying. DD (3) has spotted it this morning, it is now called "mrs froggy"
I will just have to remove and hide it if we ever have visitors over the age of 6.........

RockSteady · 04/04/2010 10:27

haha, unlucky!maybe you'll grow to love it

southeastastra · 04/04/2010 10:47

aw it's cute i'd put in it just cause kids would like it.

when we moved in they had left their life size plastic flamingo here.

electra · 04/04/2010 10:56

YANBU!

pranma · 04/04/2010 14:03

I hoped it was going to be a little gnome with a solar powered lantern-I want one of those to put in front garden to p* off incredibly 'superior' neighbours
