plonker · 03/04/2010 16:41

...picking up a fixed penalty of £60 and getting points on his licence for talking on his mobile whilst driving!!
...and if that's not bad enough anyway, he had all 3 dd's in the car with him!!!

Fucking knob

I'm fucking furious with him!!!!

...and Christ knows how we're going to afford to pay the fine

YANBU. It's up to him to find a way to pay the fine. Anything he really loves that could be sold on ebay for £60?

Karmann · 03/04/2010 16:48

I'd be livid - it's one of my pet hates! When will people realise that it is extremely dangerous? No phone call is worth putting people's lives at risk for.

plonker · 03/04/2010 17:11

He's an idiot ...and when I told him so, he said "don't put this on me"

WTF?! Who should I put it on?? The children? The police?

Fuckwit

Sorry this is turning into a rant

OP posts:
FabIsGettingThere · 03/04/2010 17:12

Don't put what on him?

He put your children's lives in danger. I would be cutting his dick off.

plonker · 03/04/2010 17:16

if I had a knife nearby ...

OP posts:
Joolyjoolyjoo · 03/04/2010 17:16

He's lucky you're not putting a heavy implement on him!

He needs to hold his hands up, admit he's been an idiot, and think of a way to pay the fine that doesn't impinge on you or the kids- oh, and the increase on his insurance next time he renews.

plonker · 03/04/2010 17:19

I hadn't even thought about the insurance ...

He won't put his hands up. He never admits he's wrong. It's always someone elses fault. He's a fucking prick.

If he'd come in and said he'd done something stupid and he's sorry, I'd be cross, but not anything like how I'm feeling now. I seriously want to knock him out!!!

honeybunmum · 03/04/2010 17:29

YANBU! GGGGGRRRRRRR to anyone who drives and talks on their mobile or texts. And with your DC on board too. I'd be telling him he's not responsible enough to drive your DC and won't be doing it again! I'm pleased someone has been caught doing it though, I was feeling a bit despondent that no-one was enforcing these laws and people didn't give a toss

plonker · 03/04/2010 17:33

Glad you're pleased honey ...I'll be pleased when we're going without our planned camping trip because the money's going on the fine instead ...

Cheers

Joolyjoolyjoo · 03/04/2010 17:37

oh plonker- I do honestly think it is up to him to come up with a way of paying this fine- whether it is overtime, or selling something there must be a way of doing it so it doesn't affect your camping trip. He needs to take responsibility for this- that would be the sticking point for me. It was a dumb thing to do, and HE has to pay for it

I am quite with him on your behalf

overmydeadbody · 03/04/2010 17:37

YANBU

Stupid man. Make him sell something for the £60.

GeekOfTheWeek · 03/04/2010 18:25

YA totally NBU. My dh has just had a 535 fine for speeding (court summons, not fixed penalty notice) and 6 points.

No dc's in car but could still beat the shit out of him!

He is paying it himself, thus preventing the purchase of new fishing stuff Don't see why the dc's and I should suffer financially because of him.

Our car insurance is okay though. They have said it will only go up slightly when we renew.

honeybunmum · 03/04/2010 18:36

Sorry plonker, I know it's tough for you and money is an issue but as others have said, he has to take responsibility for this, you cannot allow him to ruin any plans you had. I'm sure there is something he could go without. Be grateful your DC are still alive. x

AnnieLobeseder · 03/04/2010 18:36

Assuming plonker's last post was from her DH - he's a total knob. Still trying to make out like it's her fault now that they're not going camping.

Why can't some people ever admit they're wrong? It's usually so much more upsetting than what they actually did wrong!

PlanetEarth · 03/04/2010 18:39

I would be cross about the fine, however far more cross at him doing something so dangerous with kids in the car - and dangerous to other road users as well (if he kills himself that's his own silly fault but these people always seem to take someone else out instead...).

AgentProvocateur · 03/04/2010 19:32

Annie, I think Plonker's last post was to honeybummum...

AnnieLobeseder · 03/04/2010 19:35

Ah, yes. Shouldn't skim read with my glasses off!

RunawayWife · 03/04/2010 19:50

yanbu

STUPID THING TO DO

chicaguapa · 03/04/2010 20:26

YANBU. I don't let DC go in the car when my DSis is driving as I know she talks on her mobile whilst driving.

plonker · 03/04/2010 22:04

Sorry, yes, my last post was to honey. A bit tetchy I know, but am feeling mightily pissed off by this. Sorry honey.

I'm trying to figure a plan whereby he pays, not us. Difficult though as we are scraping by as it is ...

I'm still fit to knock him out. Prick.

vickyob · 03/04/2010 23:36

Sell his mobile phone on ebay or anything else he holds dear.
YANBU - My DH got a £60 fine and 3 points for speeding. I had pointed out it was 30MPH and that the car pulling out of the side rd was an unmarked Police car but did he listen NO!!!!

honeybunmum · 04/04/2010 07:47

He's a man... they don't do listening.

honeybunmum · 04/04/2010 07:48

Oh... unless it's from another man but certainly not from their wives.

I don't understand. Don't put this on me, he said?

Eh? He was on his mobile. Whose fault is it?

Have you asked him that? Was he or was he not on his mobile. If so, how is the fine not his fault?

Honestly, you lose respect for someone who can't just hold their hands up and take responsibility.
