Not sure what cuk is. Are they a bunch of blokes that were trolling on mn?

geraldinetheluckygoat · 02/04/2010 15:34

dunno, its a secret apparently, or a long story that no one can be arsed to explain.

@Wanderingsheep what's CUK

geraldinetheluckygoat · 02/04/2010 15:35

@bald, care to take some paracetamol and explain CUK?

GeekOfTheWeek · 02/04/2010 15:41

What is CUK?

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 02/04/2010 15:44
FrameyMcFrame · 02/04/2010 15:49

Pretty pretty please can someone expalin what CUK is?

I read about it on a thread yesterday and I am completely in the dark...
Everybody else seems to know what it is.

Bucharest · 02/04/2010 15:55

Some IT blokes came to troll.

FrameyMcFrame · 02/04/2010 16:07

ok, thanks Bucharest, what does CUK stand for?

Bucharest · 02/04/2010 16:13

No idea, I think maybe the name of their forum?
I missed it all, I kept seeing threads talking about CUk but it was the same day as the threads on BPA in plastic baby bottles and I thought CUK must be some kind of noxious plastic!

ilovesprouts · 02/04/2010 16:17

whats so bad about using a @

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 02/04/2010 16:23

nothing, ilovesprouts. imo anyway.

but why bother? you can hit the keyboard twice, once on the a and once on the t or you can hold down the shift key and press ' giving you @. as far as I can see, it isn't any easier. Or quicker.

And quicker is the point of such things, is it not? that's why we put imo instead of in my opinion. As I did up top there.

Although...If any of us are so busy that we can't spare the time to type "at" (or even "in my opinion") should we really be pissing about on here anyway?

BertieBottsChocolateBeans · 02/04/2010 16:29

@ does grate. It comes from twitter, which made sense originally when it was mainly on mobile phones and was about all these little messages flying around. Though twitter is more web based now I believe - I don't know, I was an early adopter and then got bored of it before it became hugely popular anyway.

But on a forum it just seems rude, because it sounds like you are talking at someone rather than to them. Bolding I don't mind at all as it makes it easy to pick out someone's name and in a fast flowing thread if you want to reply to something someone said a few posts back without confusing everyone it's useful.

I don't mind things like @ or PSML @ though because you generally do laugh or grin etc at someone.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 02/04/2010 16:29

hahaha good point!

geraldinetheluckygoat · 02/04/2010 16:31

that was @justmytwopenceworth btw!

cornsilk · 02/04/2010 16:39

@ or at
my personal research tells me that @is more fiddly to type than at and you need 2 hands to do an @ so where do I put the gin? hmm?
