to feel fed up

DH has norovirus so is currently in bed - getting up only to whimper about how poorly he is. I have a stomach ache but am otherwise okay except for being knackered because DS (6mo) doesn't sleep much.

Its also raining so I'm pretty much stuck indoors looking after DS and DD (2.9) while they cause havoc and spread toys round the living room.

I had really high hopes for this weekend - do a declutter and spring clean, have some nice family expeditions and maybe go for a run or two. Now DH can't be left to look after the children (or really expected to get up) and so we can't do anything. These sort of bugs tend to hit him very hard so even if he is a bit better by tomorrow he is still likely to be grumpy, miserable and wanting to stay in bed until Monday at the earliest so my plans are limited to whatever I can cram into Monday.

AIBU to be a bit fed up. Also any suggestions for things to do with small children indoors which doesn't create a lot of mess (for me) or noise (for DH) would be gratefully appreciated!

That's rubbish - sorry can't give much advice as my kids are older and I've blanked it all out but I have much sympathy for both of you.

I had norovirus a few weeks ago and felt at death's door. Had to spend two days in bed and the rest of the week in the corner of the sofa - even moving my head brought on the nausea. Truly grim.

YANBU for being fed up. The weather is shite
here today too. No suggestions, just sympathy

YANBU! Hope you manage to feel better and have some kind of fun today.

Sorry your weekend has turned out so rubbish.

I started another thread about my new fab gazebo, £11 from b&q, if you have a garden you could get one and set it up without the extra legs on it so it's only about 4 foot tall and send the dcs outside for a bit.

redshoesnoknickers · 02/04/2010 18:17

YANBU - tis very dull when illness/weather thwarts your plans. Try and book in an afternoon next weekend where he will look after kids and you can do something you want.
My DH has been either ill or at work constantly for 3 weeks but today he had a day off and I went and got highlights put in and bought a new lipstick and I feel like a new person

Thanks all. My mum has said she'll come over tomorrow to keep me company so we can do something with the DCs (possibly involving shopping) and DH can stay in bed. He may be alive again by tomorrow night so we can hope...

if you can face it, could you take them out with wellies and rain clothes, and let them splash about at the park or go to some woods or something, less depressing than staying in with someone who's ill (so oppressive, it really gets on my nerves when dh is like this - so sympathetic lol). I know theres no worse thought than going out in the wet, but its rarely as bad as you think once youre out...of course its nearly bed time now, so maybe not a helpful suggestion...

Will your mum bring the sunshine?
