To think the doctor should have handed over the good drugs?

OK, not quite as it seems but I want sympathy.

I've been ill, chest infection since Saturday.
Went to doctors at first available time on Monday, have antibiotics and steroids.
Still feel rotten today so went back (work day so late for work) and instead of giving me the stronger antibiotic, which he says I probably need, he ups my steroid dose and says to come back on Tuesday. (another work day)

Arrrrgh, I feel like shite, can't afford to take time off work and I need to be better, like now.

I then bumped into him at work and he looked smug in my head--.

So is he?

Actually, I don't care, gimme sympathy and strong alcohol--

And now I can't do strike outs.
I blame the doctor, and if it helps you imagine his unreasonableness, and helps you to agree with me, he looks just like George Lamb.

Dunno, I've had a bad back for years and the strongest thing they've given me is ibu-bloody-prufen.

Saw a locum recently and she gave me diclofenac - no back pain - result!

See a different GP?

Nemofish · 01/04/2010 15:48

I thought that you were going to say he should have given you more some valium. In which case it would have been YANBU.

But as he looks like George Lamb, I would say that YANBU anyway

Mouseface · 01/04/2010 15:50

Sympathy first, alcohol later.

Poor you, you must feel really bloody awful and having to go to work too. Nasty doctor, should be struck off (meant in jest before I get flamed for putting that). How dare he not give you the real deal re the drugs....... how very rude of him not to take you seriously........

Feeling better yet?

Will chink a vody and tonic with you around 7pm when I have my first!!!

BTW - should you be drinking on anti bs? Not that I ever check!

muggglewump · 01/04/2010 15:56

I couldn't see the pill happy doctor I wanted to see as he wasn't available when I needed (had to go first thing so as not to piss off work too much, though my fabola boss has said to make any appointment I want for Tuesday and not worry about it).

I'm feeling a tad better knowing I'm off now till Tuesday, but still like pants. I have thrush too due to antibiotics and the dumb George Lamb doctor gave me canesten cream. Anyone knows you hand over the pessary and the oral treatment.
He should be struck off.

Now I want some valium...

Mouseface · 01/04/2010 16:17

God, I do feel for you. Canesten cream is useless, you may as well brush your teeth with it! Def need the oral and pessary, that's all that works for me. At least your boss is cool.

muggglewump · 01/04/2010 16:23

I know. Cream, cream ffs.
I'll have to go out tomorrow and get oral treatment from minor ailments.

Stupid doctor

my friend went private, for mild anxiety and depression he got VALIUM and PROZAC!!! just like that, to get them off the NHS you heed to split your wrists in the bloody waiting room

having said that, when I was once really in pain they (NHS) gave me morphine, so maybe you are not that ill in his eye

BallpointPen · 01/04/2010 16:55

I agree with everything you said because you're ill, he should have given you(and me) all the drugs at his disposal esp. for the thrush. Eejit.

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 01/04/2010 17:01

Poor you

I always get thrush when prescribed antibiotics, but last year when on a double up dose for a chest infection, a female locum suggested I drink a daily yakult whilst on the antibiotics and it worked.
No thrush

I forgot this advice just before Christmas when on another dose of antibiotics for cellulitis and thrush struck straight away.

Next time I'm on antibiotics I will definately try yakult at the same time.

Not sure if it's too late if you've already started the course 'tho

muggglewump · 01/04/2010 17:22

Daily Yakult?
I keep puking too, so no good, unless it's extra tasty on the way back up.
Half a slice of toast last night, was not.

Oh the doctor I like is fabulous, I've known him for years, he's prescribed all of my anti d's (not on them now, but have been, he hands over the valium too) and knows I can't spend time being ill, I'm a single parent, and need to be better asap.

George Lamb however, is shite not as good.

OP posts:
Emster30 · 01/04/2010 18:31

I second the Yakult for avoiding thrush when I'm on ABs. Normally when I get thrush I don't really do anything about it and it goes away, but I've got it now (not on ABs) and am pregnant so trotted off to see the GP this morning. He just gave me cream, not the pessary - I know you can't have the oral treatment in pregnancy - so I hope it works. It does feel better already after only one application.

muggglewump · 01/04/2010 18:45

I can't do yakult, I keep being sick.

Pessary means chalky fanjo, but better than the cream.
What you need is the tablet

Oh and thrush does not go away. I though that once, and was wholly embarrased when I went for a smear.
She had the instrument of torture speculum in place, adjusted her light and went in for a look.
She said, "you have an amazing (now at this point, I thought she was going to say fanjo, which would have been weird, but still flattering, and my fanjo is quite nice) case of thrush. Yes, case of thrush.
I've wanted to have many amazing things. cases of thrush was not one of them.

It was internal so no cottage cheese symptoms on the outside, but still there.

Do get treated, really do. You do not want to be where I was that day.

(though I do have a very lovely fanjo, well I think)
