From September dc's school are changing their uniform, from a practical, smart, modern, comfortable, hard-wearing, easy-to-care-for, cotton-mix poloshirt and sweatshirt, to a stupid, ugly, old-fashioned, synthetic-loaded button-up shirt and tie with equally stupid, ugly, old-fashioned, coarse, synthetic, jumper.

Apparently this will be more comfortable for the children to wear , they will look smarter , and it will be more hard-wearing .

Opinions on style and practicality aside, the synthetic material makes my skin crawl. If I were to wear that jumper, my skin would literally crack and bleed. It was wearing synthetic jumpers at school that triggered my contact dermatitis. I can't bear the thought of handling it, and certainly don't want to expose my dc to developing contact dermatitis.

Urgh!

Yuck!

And, yes, I did make my opinions known, and voted. But it was a fait-bloody-accompli from the start.

Oh, yes, and the icing on the cake: they don't have to struggle with a tie, they can wear a clip-on tie. So why bother with a tie at all!?

What on earth is it made of? Sweatshirt material? Nice 100% cotton school shirts from M&S and all is well.

And you will think they look very smart when they go off to school on their 1st morning. I bet you 10 bucks!

YNBU I would get a shirt that has some cotton mix in it in the closest colour.

Yes, I'm sure 100% cotton shirts are very nice, but only if you iron them. Poloshirts, whether in cotton-mix or 100% cotton, don't need ironing.

Ho hum.

YANBU at all it sounds utterly grim. ANd ties for small children are completely crap and pointless.
