To want checkout 'assistants' in supermarkets to bag shopping.

Since the bring or buy a bag policy, I've noticed that in my local supermarket, checkout assistants don't bag shopping.

This annoys me as I usually have a young child strapped to my chest and besides having to fiddle around with my handbag for a purse and shopping bag, I have to bag my own shopping on top.

Though I understand that it is important for people to have jobs (be it scanning shopping) Should I write to them to complain and suggest they get in the self service checkouts. Whatever has happened to customer service?

Sainsburys always used to offer, now they're encouraged to but to use their judgement as so many customers kept complaining they were being asked too many questions
if you dont want to talk to the staff, go through self serve.

i like to do a bit myself, but like help if i've got loads of bottles or something like that.
someone i know always demands someone help her pack, someone other than the person serving her apparently she thinks packers should be on beck and call for her.
she is perfectly healthy and sprightly, she does it 'on principle'

Dueling - I don't blame you. My 6 year old wasn't very good at it

In Oz they pack your bags - whether you want them to or not. Usually YOU ask THEM if you can help and not put the bleach with the bread

The first few times I shopped here I was day dreaming at the checkout (as you do!) and was shocked to look down and see my shopping not packed!!

That said, I popped into Lidl for a few non foody items the other day, it was raining, I had the 2 and 4 yr old with me and the bump and they not only took the items OUT of the trolley to be scanned, but repacked the trolley then called a guy to take the trolley to the car for me! I had some other stuff in there as well so he put that in the boot too, then returned the trolley through the rain for me and gave me my coin back!! FAB customer service Highly impressed!
