right, got dd's primary school place for september last week

yesterday took in her acceptance form along with proof of our address, less than 3 months old.

apparentely this is not good enough, I have to provide somethignw ith dd's name and address on it that is less than 3 months old??????

I aksed what would be appropriate and she suggested a dr's or dentists letter (we dont have one) a bank statement (we get dd's statement once a year so would be too old) or a child benefit letter (again my last one is dated 2008, as thats when they last wrote to me)

when i told her all that, she said a NHS card would do, which I pointed out has no date and would be more than 3 months old, she said "oh well, it's better than nothing I suppose! Bring it in and I will have a look" in a very superior voice. (went home and discovered dd's nhs card still has our old address on it LOL, so phoned PCT and they said that's becasue they only send new cards when you register with a new dr which we hadn't, they agreed to send a letter to dd with her reg number on it, will also obv have her address on it)

AIBU to wonder how many families will actaully have proof of their child name and address dated within 3 months?

if you call the cb and explain it all, they should send you a letter that will be acceptable

i know it sucks huge ones though

ISNT the only reason I'm not panicking as much as I was at first is that I spoke to the closest school's admissions officer and she told me that she expects there to be enough movement for him to be offered a place. She was lovely actually, even though she's been instructed by the council not to talk to parents.

Sorry to hijack gingernutlover. Your predicament is daft and very unrealistic.

gingernutlover · 30/03/2010 14:35

ah, but mine is a minor annoyance compared to yours and for you at how it must be simply not knowing

i will get a letter, it will be fine, its just a stupid request IMO, am planning to ask her what evidence other people have taken in he he, or maybe I just looked pretty dodgey!

It is a stupid request. They aren't proving anything if you're getting a letter purely for this are they?

I'm not sleeping very well but have fingers crossed it will all work out.
