To be very very angry and upset, and want to get revenge (House Selling topic)

We are in the process of selling our house, and also found one we wanted to buy. We had an offer on our property, and the buyer was ready to proceed and we set everything in motion. On the basis of having found a buyer for our house, we also put in an offer on a house we love!
Two weeks after putting the offer in, the buyer called the estate agent and said that they are not sure of one particular neighbour (?!?), but never said they wanted to pull out, and then ignored all calls from the estate agent. So imagine my surprise when I see them viewing another house down the road! When they saw me, they came over and said they are still going to go ahead but now they are worried about parking.
Luckily I saw the light of day and put my house back on the market, but it took more than another week for them to answer the phone to the estate agent and admit they no longer wanted to buy the house.
I know that these things happen, and that they obviously changed their mind, but to just not let us know about it? We will probably loose out on the new house now but have also already spent money with the solicitor regarding the sale.
Right to be annoyed?

YANBU. House buying/selling is ridiculous. The stress is unbelievable. Be annoyed, but ultimately as the system stands you are able to dick people about without any consequence

MillyMollyMoo · 29/03/2010 12:07

You are right to be annoyed, that's the system in the UK, it's rubbish, allows gazumping, gazundering and time wasters.

emsyj · 29/03/2010 12:08

I would say you shouldn't have stopped viewings on your property until your buyers had spent some money (i.e. showed commitment) for example by booking a surveyor or something. YABU to be so angry - this is just life. People change their minds for all sorts of reasons.

yojojo · 29/03/2010 12:30

oh yanbu! we thought we had sold our house, put offer in on new house, sepnt money on a solicitor etc. The day before we were due to sign contracts our buyer changed their mind, it was soooo disappointing

thighsmadeofcheddar · 29/03/2010 12:38

Oh that is so frustrating. Poor you.

We are in the contract stage of buying/selling now and it's a nervy wait to exchange!

So frustrating...We've just had our offer accepted on our dream house and I can't sleep for worrying that it will all fall through.

AnyFucker · 29/03/2010 19:06

I am never, never, never, ever, ever, ever moving house ever again

I feel your pain, OP
