In a good way

Am co-sleeping, extended bf-ing, baby-led weaner.

On my shelf I have 'Raising Boys', 'What Mothers Do', 'how to talk so children will listen...' and 'Our Baies Ourselves' (but I found that one all by myself!)I want 'The Politics of Breastfeeding' and Ann Sinnots book.

My non-mumsnetting mummy pals are like

I wonder how I would have parented if mumsnet had not been recommended to me. I am very happy with the way things are though.

I mostly lurk but have found the support and advice on here invaluable

i'm also doing household cleaning with nothing but eco cloths, think i got that from on here too possibly.

my life is becoming 'stuff' free..no shampoo, no cleansers, no bleach, oh..and no spoons

lots of um..books though

PatTheHammer · 26/03/2010 22:37

This curly thing sounds just right for me, I hate straightening etc, but do it every other day.

ruddynorah- what exactly is the toxic chldhood boo thingy called as I recommended it to a friend earlier who has a toxic mum but rather embarrassingly couldn't give details as I had only heard vague details on a thread on here

PatTheHammer · 26/03/2010 22:38

sorry book, apalling keyboard (the reason I mainly lurk)

ruddynorah · 26/03/2010 22:39

toxic childhood

but it's about modern culture rather than toxic parenting as in the stately home threads on here.

stottiecake · 26/03/2010 22:40

oh oh oh I gave myself a mumsnet haircut last year too!!!

(saddy McSadder Sadface)
(didn't look too bad actually )

I don't have an iron! No pant ironing here!

Shiney I could make the exact same list, and also add that DS's routine was loosely based on Gina Ford lol.
But I do love MN

PatTheHammer · 26/03/2010 22:42

Oh cheers- yep think I will have a look on that thread to see the one I mean. that one looks good though (I mean interesting obviously, not good).

Ironing pants- wtf?

scottishmummy · 26/03/2010 22:43

hang on i learned 2 useful things on mn
1 soapnuts
2 porridge oats in tights hang over tap running bath.great for eczema

meltedmarsbars · 26/03/2010 22:47

Eh? Soapnuts?

PatTheHammer · 26/03/2010 22:49

Soapnuts.........ahh, Scottishmummy cracks and a little of her real tampon-knitting side sneaks through

stottiecake · 26/03/2010 22:50

Toxic Childhood - yep looks like the sort of book I'd read. (noting)
Were you serious about there being a sequel to to 'Our Babies...'

Soapnuts?

Porridge oats - will give it a go - ds won't eat porridge but does have eczema (have festering box of porridge in cupboard)

[[http://inasoapnutshell.com/ soapnuts!!!]

ruddynorah · 26/03/2010 22:55

soapnuts!!!

randomrabbit · 26/03/2010 22:56

I just leave mine in front of the tv/pc/dvd/ds while I get drunk

muggglewump · 26/03/2010 22:57

Is that what MN is useful for?

Well I missed that, given that DD was 6 when I found it.

Do you really have to be a babywearer, bf till 4, have them kicking you in the night when co-sleeping, gently telling them they make you sad when they are screeching?

Well I'm not a MN type then!

God I can't be doing with any of that.

My bed is my bed, if she's screeching I tell her to shush, and she doesn't make me sad, she pisses me off, and I let her know it, sans swearing --out loud.

Do we really have to be nice to our children all the time?

scottishmummy · 26/03/2010 22:58

i leave children with the nanny and i get munted

stottiecake · 26/03/2010 23:02

Are people really using soapnuts?

My dh will leave me
Seriously tho... veeeeeery interesting!
I do like that Meredith Small lady - I think I will be buying that book also!

OP posts:
randomrabbit · 26/03/2010 23:06

WTF is Meredith Small ..I never bought/brought (sorry mn pedants) a baby book in my life

scottishmummy · 26/03/2010 23:06

soapnuts,yep.love em

scottishmummy · 26/03/2010 23:09

baby books are grandiosing politicising guilt inducing parp.no one needs a for profit book to tell em what to do

tarantula · 26/03/2010 23:13

Well I was a wierdo hippy before I had kids and have become MUCH more mainstream since having them. So have I become debrainwashed by mumsnet or just more cant be arsed as I get older? have to think about that one.
