Much better surely to show it as realistically as possible rather than softfocus wishwash so today's teenagers will not think it's an easy option, just popping a pill and hey presto?

Yabu.

I doubt that will be the end of it. There has to be some reprocussions or else it won't be EE!

ruddynorah - I was going to say "why would Jane find out?"... and then I remembered that it's Eastenders

I just thought it was a peculiar way to end the episode - giving the illusion that Lucy was ok. If someone saw that episode isolated from every other episode, it could give the impression that it's a difficult procedure for a few hours, but by the end of the day, you're fine. Not really the message that should be given out.
But, hey ho. It's just pretend. No point getting annoyed about it!

But some people are 'fine' after a few hours. Some aren't. Some are fine for a bit, and then not fine later. Which one is Lucy?

I agree with AF, they didn't shy away from the reality of the procedure itself. If nothing else, it will provoke discussion in young people and that is a good thing IMO.
