Someone I met at toddler club has my mobile number because we arranged to swap some toys about a year ago.

I have never met up with her socially or called her as a friend. We are just acquaintences really.

Then today I get a call out of the blue from some photographic studio in London giving me the "hard sell" for their latest "offer " (which sounded a complete rip off).

I asked how they got my number and they said, from your friend XXX, who "recommended" you.

I am a bit

Don't know if i should say something.

I was joking. Should probably have winked or summat

Hard sellers don't care if you slam the phone down, it means they don't waste their time trying to persuade someone who really isn't interested.

trust me, I used to do that (windows doors conservatories)

Oh, you really have to say something to her. Maybe she didn't realise what it would entail, as gmtbst quite reasonably suggested. But you can let her know so she doens't do it again. Tell her you are helping her avoid being ripped off, too. That should help you do it without feeling anxious about the "confrontation" of telling her.
