What rating Is the film it's based on?

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 22/03/2010 22:18

The film is an 18 and too gruesome for me, so yes, unsuitable imo.

valleyqueen · 22/03/2010 22:21

It's a hard one, I don't think I would like my dd to see it, I wonder if it's worse than London Dungeon i've never been but my dd (11) has and loved the gore there.

cococake · 22/03/2010 22:24

We are going to the park this weekend. DH says the ride is fine for dd as it's just a ride although not only does that have a height restriction it also has an age restriction of 12.

The live maze on the other hand, we are unsure of, as the series of films are very graphic.

YANBU, Saw is a cert 18 and it's a really horrible film I wouldn't let any of mine near this.

Greenshadow · 22/03/2010 22:38

I don't think it's an actual age restriction on the Saw ride - just says it's not recomended for under 12s.
We are also going this coming weekend - with 4 11 year olds so this could be an issue for us. I will make sure they know in advance that they will not be going in the maze, but we will wait and see what they say about the ride when we get there.

NormalityBites · 22/03/2010 23:33

YANBU, I don't like that for 12 year olds, and I'm not precious. What gets me is you can go in if you're 12 but not if you're pregnant That's bizarre!

mamas12 · 22/03/2010 23:35

Wrong wrong wrong.

muggglewump · 22/03/2010 23:40

Hmm, I dunno, it's just a ride but the films are pretty gross, I enjoyed them though.

I took DD to Edinburgh Dungeon when she was 7 and she loved it, but I called in advance so I knew exactly what to expect and knew it wouldn't upset her.
There's no actual scary people, the actors dressed up are the tour guides and most bits are comedy scary.

mummiedearest · 23/03/2010 01:57

my dd loves anything gruesome and has done since she was about seven. Read Jaws when she was 6. Mum she says they're not scary just funny. Personally i@m scared stiff and think any such imagery is disturbing and highly unsuitable. Back behind the cushion folks!!

valleyqueen · 23/03/2010 06:25

The prices at thorpe park scare me more. Not been since I was 15,£39 if you don't book online or something!

PuppyMonkey · 23/03/2010 06:31

What next? A theme park ride based on Silence of the Lambs?

asteri · 23/03/2010 10:26

looks a bit gruesome for me, although I cant even do the pasaje del terror......I'm such a wuss.

faddle · 23/03/2010 11:14

thats revolting. To be honest, I cant believe that anyone found the film worth watching let alone would want to go to an amusement park ride.
Its very very sad when with all the needless violence in the world that anyone should feel the need to watch or look at it for entertainment sake.

MillyR · 23/03/2010 11:17

Agree with Faddle.

I won't go to Thorpe Park because of this ride. It is easy enough to avoid when Chessington is so near it.

HanBanan · 23/03/2010 11:21

No way would I want my kid anywher near this even if they were 18!!! It's just wrong wrong wrong.
