Eeeeeek your all going to go mad at me.

I need more people to know about the show I am advertising, it is mostly primary kids that will be interested, as I ahev no more money to advertise, I am thinking about giving out leaflets at school gates. to the parents though, befor ethe kids come out.

So....is this shameless?? and if you are said parent, will you go mad at me?

But check with the school first in case it pisses them off - at my dd's school she comes back with all kinds of random leaflets in her book bag - maybe they could do this for you if you asked them?

liahgen66 · 19/03/2010 22:23

has your school got a notice board at the gates? Ours does and the head would be more than happy for a parent to advertise an event in there.

Good luck.

spybear · 19/03/2010 22:26

I have given leaflets to schools before, even with money off vouchers, and they just bin them I reckon, coz no one seems to get them.

Erm it isn't my DC's school gates I was going to, already done that. Was planning to do some other schools in my area

Sorry, YABU, I would find it annoying.

galletti · 19/03/2010 22:37

MM, if not in your own school, I wouldn't hand them out at different school gates. But what about getting posters made, and asking if said schools could put them up on noticeboards, in windows. Ours does, and parents do always look to see what is on in the area. I would also try the flyers in bookbag route again. Maybe go and explain to the school secretary how much it means to you and the children, and future children?

Boys2mam · 19/03/2010 22:50

I don't like this technique myself, I hate having any leaflet thrust upon me as I walk past but if this is your target audience then it surely can't hurt to try it out; check the response and take it from there?

Promoters use this method all the time out on shopping forums (i.e., public areas), I doubt they need permits but perhaps checking with the school that they have no objections would be a 'polite' move?

I have started a new maths tutoring service in Oadby Leicester, I have had a number of flyers printed but local schools seem to be reluctant to hand them out?

Do you think anyone would object to me handing them out at the school gates?

PathologyGeek · 04/01/2018 14:34

?have the schools or local parents got a Facebook page? If it’s useful, entertaining or educational I am happy to receive recommendations via that type of medium. Make an event, get a people to mark ‘going’ or ‘intereted’ and it’ll spread like wildfire. Have you tried apps like hoop? I have no idea how you get your events on.

But in answer to your original q - I wouldn’t be mad at all.

Maisiejane · 04/01/2018 15:28

Thank you. That’s very helpful.

Crunchymum · 04/01/2018 15:31

Depends what it is for!

You say it appeals to primary age kids, but is it something the parents will be OK with? (you aren't advertising sweets or junk food or expensive plastic shit are you?)

TheSnowballFairy · 04/01/2018 16:12

Can you email the schools with a flyer so they can put in their newsletters?

I would not be impressed with someone I didn't know handing out leaflets at my DD's school - from a parent I knew would be bad enough.

YellowMakesMeSmile · 04/01/2018 16:12

Your own School yes but another no way. You're likely to get reported under safeguarding concerns as no one will know you. Ask the School to hand them out and they may if the service is something they agree with.

Rebeccaslicker · 04/01/2018 16:16

Agreed - if you have no connection with the school, it's a bad idea. Just email the school and explain; they may be very happy to hand out the leaflets or put them in reception for you.

Rebeccaslicker · 04/01/2018 16:17

What about your local supermarket - have you tried the community board there?

Walkthroughthefire · 04/01/2018 16:22

Zombie!
