You know the sort got a car or somesort of plastic truck stuck to one end.Why can't the toddlers go in a normal trolley. These things are far too big and get in the way of other shoppers.Saw two mothers today stuggling to manoeuvre them, what is the point?

Oh I like them. Sometimes dd3 is happy in an ordinary trolley but she is always happy in one of those. Obviously I can steer superbly though

Northernlurker · 19/03/2010 17:51

Oh and if you've got a houdini child they are a bit safer because whilst they can get out and run off they don't run the risk of cracking their baby heads in a fall like with conventional trollies.

ben10isgr8 · 19/03/2010 17:59

i only hate them when I can't get one...every bloody time I go!
we always see them in the shop and ds starts asking to get in.."no, someone else is already using it" bwahahah tears and sadness.

waitingforbedtime · 19/03/2010 18:02

I dont mind them because i cant lift ds into a trolley now but he will sit in one of those

Agree about the dismay when there isnt one though - I have been known to dodge aisles if I see a kid in one before ds does!

PatsyStone · 19/03/2010 18:05

Oh God, YANBU I remember when our Sainsbury's had them years ago, ds always had to go in one and it used to drive me mad! So glad when they got rid of them. He would never stay in them, and I probably pissed many a shopper off getting in their way...

darkandstormy · 19/03/2010 18:08

they are sort of the road hog of the supermarkets. But never mind if it makes the kids happy then.Just sod everyone else in the crowded aisles. What is wrong with the bar .If a child cannot behave in that then it should not be in the shops, bring in the health and safety exec I say.

yanbu - our big tesco had only 1 of said trolleys. (none in the smaller tesco thankfully) When ds was a toddler he would see the trolley and its happy occupant and really kick off. And don't even get me started on the 'rides' that are between the the parent and child spaces and the entrance. needless to say, when we have to use the big store, we park at the other end of the car park!

ben10isgr8 · 19/03/2010 23:41

"And don't even get me started on the 'rides' that are between the the parent and child spaces and the entrance."

I will see your rides and raise you to sweetie hell at the cash register.

ARRRRGGGGHHH those bloody shops and their feckin need to create drama....you make it past the pointless and unsatisfying "just one more ride" plastic sodding cars, try to get/avoid them noticing the "fun" trolley, drag them around the shop while craftily (sp) returning whatever they "secretly" put in the trolley and you think..yes! finally, pay and then freedom...but no! wait! the wailing starts up "can I have these...and these" as DS (3) picks up a kinder egg and packet of buttons at the checkout. No you say firmly puting them back while loading your shopping onto the conveyor belt. As you pick up the eggs and look up DD (1yr 5mo) is shoving handfulls of chewing gum (perfectly positioned for children in trolley seats) into the seat next to her. No you say again taking the slightly damp packets away and replacing them on the shelves.

Child one is moaning, whining crying and begging and child 2 is throwing herself about in the seat wailing dramatically over the distant sound of bouncy pop tunes playing in the background. Breathe, put the eggs on the belt and pay...nearly home

oh anything that makes a small person smile.
I would prefer to have to dodge a child in one of those that listen tothem cry

chipmonkey · 19/03/2010 23:55

This is why I shop online.
( someone had to say it!)

jennyslinger · 20/03/2010 02:16

the only thing that gets me is parents that are incapable of controlling their kids in supermarkets; screaming, running about and then some kind of public shouting at them.

if you can't control your kids in supermarkets, please shop online.
