to keep my youngest off school for yet another day even though his cough is much better and he no longer has a temperature

simply because we've had such a lovely time together this week. I've been able to work from home while he slept, watched DVDs, played, drawn pictures. We've had loads of cuddles, some stories and lots of chats.

He has been calm and happy all week. It makes me feel horrible aware that this is what he needs to keep him like this - one-to-one and mum being at home Back to work and school next week - and probably back to tantrums and rows too.

Is there something the matter with his school that is making him not like going?

wonderingwondering · 19/03/2010 10:06

Just keep him at home. Let him get over his bug before he goes back into the germ-fest classroom. And if you enjoy it, all to the good. Is nice to have an odd day when they're a bit poorly but well enough to play.

Nope - make the most of it!!

Could you work from home a bit more often?
Could you homeschool?

because at my school, it is a dress up day for sport relief and my ds was really pleased to dress up?

OrmRenewed · 19/03/2010 10:07

I don't think so yellow. His teacher is a bit more strict this year but she's very nice and a good experienced teacher. I think he just finds the whole experience stressful and tiring. And he wants me. Not dad, just me.

YANBU to keep him off again, best to be on the safe side and make sure he is fully recovered

Maybe if you fit a bit more one-to-one time in with him after shcool, he might be more calmer once he goes back

Keep him home another day.

How old is DS?

Sometimes they need a pajama day for no other reason then just veging out with mum.

OrmRenewed · 19/03/2010 10:11

Hmmm vt - I think that is going to be the answer. Problem there isn't enough of me. When I get in from work I get pulled in three directions at once. And poor old DH might get a brief kiss or a wave from the other side of the room

He's 7. And by the sounds of it just waking up!

Aww bless him, it is difficult to spread yourself about when you have so much on and everyone seems to want a piece of you

can you include dh in some 1-2-1 time with him? sounds like his tanturms maybe attention based, maybe just do some straight talking to him and say 'look mum needs to do this right now, i will sit down with you after and we can have a chat and you can tell me about your day' easier said than done i know
