should turn up when he said he would?? Which was between 12.30 and 1... now it is 2.30 and no bloody plumber. I need him to remove a radiatior and plumb (is that the correct term)
a new one in on the opposite wall.

Cant get my new kitchen installed until he does this; kitchen fitter recommended him. So I called the KF and said this does not bode well for our working relationship, he apologised, said he thought the plumber was at my house... err no he isn't.

Fuck SAKE! Was in a pretty grey mood anyway today this has just made it worse.

rant over.

Hmm. We could swap plumbers? Mine turned up at 9.10 this morning having said he'd come in the afternoon. This would be fine if I hadn't had the contents of my knicker draw all over the room at the time.

A plumber (electrician/builder/etc) turn up when they say they will? You may not be being unreasonable but you are certainly deluded You're lucky if they stick to the month they told you!

Then when they get there, they work for half an hour and pop out to get a spanner and that's the last you see of them for 16 weeks!

That's why when you find a good one, you should hang on to them for dear life! Buy them biscuits and beer, toss them a quickie, hell, chain them to a radiator if you have to! But do NOT let them go!

Hey, does MN have a recommended tradesperson bit? They ought to. Would be quite useful.

thehillsarealive · 17/03/2010 16:55

justmy2pworth - I got the kitchen fitter from a recommended tradesperson site and he is fine, but subs out plumber work to this guy.

Anyway, just after i posted this - he turned up about 5 mins later, just as I was heading out to do the school run! I did let him know i wasnt pleased - showed him what he was supposed to be doing, he then said he didnt have enough pipe work and other bits, I told him he could either wait until I did the school run or come back another day.

So... 9.30am on Monday morning he is coming back and if he doesnt then I might hunt him down! I will have biscuits and might even buy 'the good ones' and make him and his boy some tea to go with them if he turns up on time!!! I draw the line at tossing him a quickie though i think

Mine is currently 72 hours late.

Luckily it's just a small job so I can sack him (like he cares) and call someone else.

What's the betting he turns up in about 3 week's time though then gets all indignant.

We had scaffolding put up in October to decorate the outside of the house (rented, so we have no say in this) and the builder was going to do th job before the weather got bad... the scaffolding is still there.

thehillsarealive · 24/03/2010 18:47

not sure where you are plumm but the weather has only recently been nice here.

Cider - the good thing about our plumber is he is part of the 'kitchen fitting' team and he doesnt get paid by us, so I just had to email the 'boss' and say how good a job he did.
