Oh I love the Fiat 500! But I've already decided that mine's going to be called Marcel, so pink just won't do!

Hulababy · 16/03/2010 19:30

moodlum - think it is 1.2 although would have to check with DH on that matter. It is the Lounge I think . It is plenty nippy enough, even on the motorway, probably helped as a pretty small and light car.

I do fancy the abarth though, for that extra umph.

Belle - we do like the Golf and have also had a few such as the GTi in various editions. Not sure what the new one is called but it is an upgrade from the R32 I believe. An R something or other.

Very nice oliviamumsnet

I like the fact that you can be a bit more daring with the little Fiat.

Lovely oliviamumsnet.

But I think I do want a white one. Have changed my tune completely in a matter of hours and will now start coveting one.

shockers · 16/03/2010 19:41

I saw a coffee coloured one with the Italian flag colours down the side and a cream leather interior. It was wedged behind Paul Weller's tour bus and I assumed it was his to nip about in.
I've wanted a Fiat 500 since I first clapped eyes on them and loved this colour combo but you can't build one in those colours on the website.
Couldn't get rid of the Volvo estate though... need it for the kids/dog.

majie · 16/03/2010 19:42

I've currently got a battered up cinquecento but would love to upgrade to the new 500...but not in pink! I think that their safety rating is actually very high, read a review ages ago when they first came out...but cannot find a link.

Hulababy · 16/03/2010 19:43

The stripes and roofs are all extras you can add. DH did say he was getting the Italian colours for the side but for some reason they were never ordered (DH's fault) so mine is plain white.

I do so want a convertible one though.

I have just found a lovely white one with the italian colours on. I have been converted!

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 16/03/2010 19:52

I have a powder blue Fiat pop with a 1.2 engine. Although the engine is small, the car is light and new so it is still a nippy little car. I am saving a fortune on petrol and road tax is only £35 a year, so eventually it will pay for itself.

I love my car!

BitOfFun · 16/03/2010 20:04

I would love one in pale blue- but I agree, the Figarro is the most covertable car in the world

SixtyFootDoll · 16/03/2010 20:06

I would really likea white one but dont think I can fit my weekly shop into the boot!

Hulababy · 16/03/2010 20:09

SixtyFootDoll- I can fit a few few bags in my boot, definitely a big shop's worth.

moodlum · 16/03/2010 20:10

OK so the general consensus is that the 1.2 engine is OK for day to day use. road tax of £35!! unbelievable

ChippyMinton · 16/03/2010 20:11

Olivia - are you sure that isn't a fondant fancy dusted with icing sugar?

I want a beetle - not pink though, like DD's Barbie. Oh no, I want orange. Citrus colours rock!

Hulababy · 16/03/2010 20:19

I had a Beetle previously I found it really quite uneconomical and it went through petrol.

Mine was blue and yes, I did have a vase in the front with a big flower

There seem to be loads of Figaros where I live and although I liked them when I fifst saw them I've gone off them since. I don't know why really, but I think they are just trying too hard to be cute. There are a lot of Fiat 500s around too but I've grown to like them more as time has passed, despite the fact that a local estate agent uses them as a fleet car.

at CM, Olivia's car does look very like a fondant fancy now that you mention it.

boiledeggandsoldiers · 17/03/2010 01:13

You do know what FIAT stands for don't you???

Fix
It
Again
Tomorrow

jasper · 17/03/2010 01:26

love it

OliviaMumsnet · 17/03/2010 09:33

PMSL at fondant fancy
He is rather SWEET.
He was an Alpine god in all the snow
Big ol' BMW's getting stuck all around us and my li'l Luigi got me through proper snow flurries.

CrankyTwanky · 17/03/2010 09:46

Oliviamumsnet, your car is a he?

I was thinking only the other day if anyone didn't like the Fiat 500?

My MIL & SIL have one each. MIL can fit two car seats in the back. Apparently just as roomy on the back as her Mini.

DH even wants one. (It would be white however.)

Pink is a bit Lady Penelope non? But fun if you like that kind of thing.

OliviaMumsnet · 17/03/2010 10:48

Oh yes, my car is a he. He's actually my first ever car hence the excuse for a grown woman naming her car (though if it's good enough for Sebastian Vettel, it's good enough for me)
They are so friendly.
People let me out at junctions ALL THE TIME!
And his horn sounds not unlike the beeper on the toy steering wheel that my 2 y/o DS has in the back seat.

ChippyMinton · 18/03/2010 16:16

oh look a luigini!

moodlum · 18/03/2010 20:38

I test drove a fiat 500 today . And loved it Hurray

Am of all you lucky people who have one.

Portofino · 18/03/2010 20:43

Tonight I saw a soft top Beetle, pink and covered with an advert for Kriek Framboise (raspberry beer). Twas naf but I coveted it

moodlum · 18/03/2010 20:46

The pink fiat in the showroom was a little too barbie-fied for any reasonable person, although to be fair it had been given a Barbie extra accessorise. I now covet the white one with the red convertible roof. And red and cream seats.
