To sometimes lurk on the groups of friends threads?

I am not going to call them cliques because I think the word clique is a total misnomer and what is really meant is "group of people who know each other".

Anyway, I sometimes click on these threads and have a quick shufty. Is this akin to looking in someone elses diary?

Occasionally I feel the need to post something but then think the reaction would be "oy, how tf are you?"

WDYT?

I have lurked on your thread Lenin. Considering my name I should have been able to join in. But alas I am much too fick. Sob.

In the good old days I used to be actively a part of friend threads. But those days are long gone.

The older I get the less I can follow convos! Might just pop in at some point then. Just to be sociable.

I can't keep up with Shiney's thread but I can confirm that they are very, very welcoming. Also, the "word game" thread.

I think we all lurk a bit, don't we?

BitOfFun · 14/03/2010 21:34

Is it the wankers thread? Far too erudite for the likes of me- I save my occasional flashes of insight for Shiney's cock chat healthy eating thread.

BratleyBackToNormal · 14/03/2010 21:34

I lurk a fair bit but its usually on a night when I can't be arsed am too tired to type.
Much more sociable during the day, but still too scared to jump in on 'friends' threads!

muggglewump · 14/03/2010 21:35

I lurked on one of the diet threads earlier, but it wasn't for me.

I know, I know, I am like one of those people who joined and then said Who is Cod, but yeah, I like her diet mentality, but don't get the badly spelled, stilted style.

I think I may lurk on Shiney's, she seems like fun and I have some weight to lose.

I clicked on Lenin's, well, not Lenin's but YKWIM, because I wondered about the title. It was interesting. I posted a bit, had a nice discussion about obedience one evening, and dip in occasionally. But the posts listing all the regulars and commenting on their news freak me out a bit, 'cos I haven't got the time to read the whole thing and am worried I am contravening thread etiquette. So - frequenters of such threads - is it OK to post and run sometimes - or do they require more investment?

oldenglishspangles · 14/03/2010 22:01

Thefallenmadonna - please dont take offence but the first thing that came to mind when I read your post was ' eats shoots and leaves'

BecauseImWorthIt · 14/03/2010 22:01

Post and run as much as you like, TFM!

Always welcome. We all have an inner wanker that needs to express itself from now and then.

I plucked up the courage (how does one pluck up courage, btw) to join Lenin's thread, commonly known as the Wankers a couple of months back, and they were most welcoming.

Don't lurk, join in.

Kitkatqueen · 14/03/2010 22:18

I feel the same as bibbity, I don't generally dip into the friends threads, partly because it is intimidating with all the "in jokes" that I don't get!( story of my life ) And partly because I have limits on the amount of time I spend online - I dip in and out, last time I posted on shineys ( possibly the only time!) I came back a few of days later and they were 2 threads on!

AND!!! because if I got a comment like

"We all have an inner wanker that needs to express itself from now and then. "

I'd be sitting here for 10 mins looking ike this and the words joking/ serious rattling round in my dippy shit head!

I have lost 1 lb this week tho and even tho I only posted once on shineys thread I lost 1 stone 6 during my diet that led me over there. I've got the same to lose again to get to my ideal, maybe I'll dip in, maybe not I'll see how brave i'm feeling

muggglewump · 14/03/2010 22:21

Shiney, will I lose 7pounds on your thread?

Can I have a guarantee?

muggglewump · 14/03/2010 22:24

Oh, but now I see Lenin is a dominatrix.

That might help me to not eat the pies too much, so I might join her thread instead.

Oooh, which to choose.....

BitOfFun · 14/03/2010 22:24

At least, muggglewump- as long as i remain Treasurer and you can use paypal.
