Is that to much to ask for mother's day???????? Finally got DP to take DDs to the bath to give me 10 minutes, he "forgot" to tell eldest it was bathtime and took baby so now DD1 (6) is screaming and stomping around upstairs and I am about to EXPLODE!!!!

Why oh why can't they all just be quiet???

Go! When my DC were much smaller, I disappeared off in the car for a couple of hours after a lousy day; DH got home from work, DS threw up over me for the nth time that day (sicky baby), and I just said "bye, see you later" and headed for the seaside (half hour drive away) for fish & chips & a look at the sea. Felt much better!

Grab every 10 mins you can, when you can - its good for your sanity!

I regularly have 10 mins in the car on my own - DP is under the impression that my Pilates starts at 7.15 pm whereas its actually 7.30pm. That extra 10/15mins is lovely as it gives me time to switch off properly before the class.

I regularly lead him to believe other 'wrong' times too eg. party pick-ups, appointments. Its not that I lie , I just leave early so he presumes

norbert - that is just brilliant. why on earth didn't I think of that??

Close friend lives in a cul-de-sac.

When her DS and DD were 3 and 5 she had had enough and for her own sanity and their safety she got in her car and drove around the corner.

She came back 10 minutes later.

Five minutes after that a knock at the door and it ws the police. DS had dialed emergency number and told them that their mum had run away and left them.

She explained that she could still see the house from where she was parked and what led up to her leaving.

Policeman gave children a stern lecture re listening to their mother and not playing up.

This was 20 years ago, I don't think the police would react like that these days.
