To not let Dh's parents take my dc on holiday

.... because I want Ds2 to go on his first holiday abroad with me. He is only 3 and I want to see his face when he first sees the plane. I have suggested that we could all go together Dh thinks that I am being clingy. Dh doesn't like holidays by the way!!

8 sounds OK - I don't know any 8 year olds! But I would never let ds go right now (almost 4). Flying under the care with airline staff not the issue it's being in the care of ils that's the issue!

OK so 4 more years then I can see. Cool.

giveitago the first time DD stayed abroad with my parents she was 4 or 5. I was away in Japan at the time. I had no qualms - but if you're not happy with the way your DS will be, don't do it!

The obvious solution seems for you to go too, and have a lovely time. Leave DH at home.

How about letting him go for a day out first and see how it works...I think he is too young and its abig responsibility for them as well.

Sorry, haven't read whole thread, but YANBU.

My dad wants to take ds(5) to visit relatives for 2 weeks on other side of world. DS has been abroad 3 times already but I am not willing to have him away from me for this length of time. I also know that he would fret.

At 7 and older, I went away with GPs and loved it, so then I would not worry so much, but that was also not abroad.

Then again I have PFB/Only child syndrome!

yanbu, especially considering you are offering to go together.

fallon8 · 15/03/2010 22:31

I dont know where you live, but how about a short hop up to Scotland or similar, for all to get the first time on aplane trip?

Not British airways at the moment, you be going anywhere!!!
if you book in advance , you can use smaller regional airports,i fly up and down to visit my family.
