AIBU to be really fed up with DH???

I went out on thurs night and left DH HM breaded plaice in the fridge to cook but he decided to have curry takeaway instead - fine. Except on Fri he was ill - went to work but dodgy all day then came home early and went to bed. I walked 2 miles to the shop for immodium for him (had drunk 2 glasses of wine by the time he said he needed some) he then stayed in bed and is still there.

This morning he does not know if he is still ill or not or whether it is food poisoning or gastric flu.

We have friends arriving to stay tonight at lunchtime including their kids who my DD is beyond excited to see. It is her birthday monday and this friend can't come to her party as they live too far away so I arranged this weekend instead.

AIBU to expect DH to pull himself together and decide if he is contagious or not rather than cancel all our plans for nothing???

THere is no way he can know if he is contagious or not...

There is a lot of noravirus type thing around where we are at the moment.

I would give the option to your friends to decide.

how will he know..

TrinityIsFuckingTrying · 13/03/2010 09:06

but surely if he ate curry on thurs day night food poisoning would be alot quicker than friday morning

I'm guessing the "is he contagious" is actually not the real question (because as others have said - he won't know)..

However "Are you contagious enough to cancel this trip and upset DD" is a very good mask to the question you are actually asking him which is "Is this actually serious or are you somewhat malingering" which is what you really need to know...

Oh FGS.
If he is still deciding whether he is ill or not then he obviously isn't.

Jesus!

redshoesnoknickers · 13/03/2010 09:16

Thanks Moondog - that's exactly how I feel! He is offended by my lack of sympathy but he is a grown up! He asked me to read the instructions on the immodium dosage yesterday - I said no. His eyes are presumably unaffected.

I admit I am a really crap nurse and hate hate hate being ill myself (hardly ever am and will deny it and carry on if at all possible) but he doesn't look ill this morn and hasn't been to the loo so....

Juat leave him in his pit, shut the door and get on with your weekend.
If he's ill he quarantine himself
I have no time for DH whne he is 'ill'

spiderpig8 · 13/03/2010 09:33

GP told me that an infection starts wit a headache or aches and pains and high temeperature ie preceded by you feeling generally unwell .whereas food poisoning is very gut centred.Bad gut pains , bad diarrohea and perhaps some vomiting low/no fever

CirrhosisByTheSea · 13/03/2010 10:09

cor what a load of fuss over a dodgy curry tummy. Wonder how much longer he thinks he can make this last ROFL at him asking you to read the instructions on the Immodium packet....

He sounds fine to me, if as moondog says he doesn't 'know' whether he's ill or not!

redshoesnoknickers · 13/03/2010 11:35

He is now fine.

What a surprise.

Thanks girls - ranting on here prob saved him from being smothered with his sick bed pillow
