About 2 years ago my mums car set on fire in a petrol station.

She had it repaired and they bought a larger 7 seater as the had grandkids.

The car sat at theirs for a few months then they gave it to us. Really nice of them but we were wary about the faults but it had been fixed,

We paid around £200 to sort sveral little things out and DH started his lessons.

Since then DH lost his job and the car has just sat on the drive rotting,

we have 3 children and its now too small for us.

Its an old car.

We have told my mum that we are saving up to bu a 7 seater and will get it in about october and asked if she wants the car back.

She says no.

She said sell it.

Thing is, its old, we on't he e mon get it sted up, ithas no tax, no m its fily and it stinks inside.

I don'tthink its worth anyhing.

The scrap yard will give us £100.

She said my dad said we are to clean it up and sell it.

AIBU to say that I'd rather retuun it to them or scrap it as i really dont want to spnd ££ doing it up ontop of the £200 we spent last tme for it to not work or not be sellable?

I was really grateful for it but things just didn't workout and now I feel a bit awkward because its sat there, they don't want it back, we don't want it, but Ireally don't thin it will start up again to sell

just get it scrapped! how is your dad even going to know?

I think your Dads pointing you in the right direction. A little elbow grease could double, triple, quadruple the value of the gift.

Clean it and then sell it as spares or repairs for the market (eBay or whatever) value.

You'd be surprised at home many people will want it as a donor to keep their old car on the road.

Honestly, just scrap it. You haven't got the time or money to be dealing with the car and you need it off your drive. Scrap it. Forget what your parents said, if they thought it that important they could have come round and cleaned it up for you...they didn't.
Just get rid of it, and stop worrying about it. Concentrate on saving for the vehicle you actually want, not bothering with one that is way past rescuing....

How does an 8 year old thread get opened

DontCallMeCharlotte · 20/04/2018 07:56

Or contact your local fire brigade - ours collects old cars for training. That training might save lives so your car won't have died in vain and you can feel good about yourself as well.
