...and just drove off? Leaving us with £600-worth of repairs and respraying, as we got back to the car after having our second miscarriage in three months confirmed by scan at the hospital?

I mean, obv the a*sehole who hit the car didn't know that (tho if you're parked on the same street as a hospital, chances are good that you work there or are a patient, right?), but I am still hoping that karma will bite them on the ass, hopefully with a crash which doesn't hurt anyone else but does cause the driver lots of VERY expensive repairs.

And possibly a nice case of whiplash or something. On the day I would have said light maiming, but I have calmed down a little now.

Anyway, this was just the final insult on the worst day of our lives. AIBU?

you poor thing
so sorry xxx

stillfrazzled · 09/03/2010 12:08

Thanks.

TBH is the thought of them driving off chortling and congratulating themselves on having got away with it, while we trudged back to the car completely heartbroken that really gets me.

I do honestly try not to wish bad things on people, but genuinely hope something A LOT WORSE happens to them very soon, and that they have at least some inkling that maybe they deserved it. Unlikely, I know...

Sorry to hear of your loss SF.

I shouldn't imagine you noted whether there were any CCTV cameras nearby?

I can't stand people doing things like this! I hope they're looking over their shoulder constantly now

BunnyLebowski · 09/03/2010 12:23

You have my total sympathy frazzled.

The same thing happened to us last Thursday (although with much less damage to car) in an Asda car park.

The stupid oul bag who did it then drove away and parked in another space. Luckily a good samaritan left us a note telling us what had happened and her reg and I waited for her to come out of Asda and then confronted her.

Her insurance is paying for the repairs.

Your situation is much worse. I hope the bastard gets knob rot.

Sorry about your loss too xx

stillfrazzled · 09/03/2010 12:23

We did look, and there weren't.

I would never do that and not leave a note. Not a chance.

That's horrible for you. Not that it excuses the person at all, but maybe they had also just come out of hospital and were in a state?

Hate it when people don't leave notes though.

stillfrazzled · 09/03/2010 12:33

LRD, suppose it's possible, and I should bear it in mind - I guess I'm just not much inclined to feel sympathy for them at the moment.

This happened to us last year, van coming out of a one way street the wrong way crashed into me and caused quite a bit of damage. The driver looked me in the eye and drove off. Can't even afford to fix the car or take a hit on the no claims bonus either so our car is staying badly dented and scratched for the forseeable future.

I feel your pain I truly do, and for that to happen after your awful news makes it even worse.

KERALA1 · 09/03/2010 13:49

Sorry to hear about the miscarriage.

I wish that they would have a car crash (no injuries obviously but damage to both cars) with the charmer who backed into our car leaving £1200 worth of damage. We had just got it back from the garage after the last person had driven into the back of me. We got up in the morning to find our boot stoved in. No message or note or anything. Grrr. Bastards.

brass · 09/03/2010 13:58

Sorry, how awful.

I am a strong believer in karma. Sometimes you have to wait but it always strikes. People who live like this invariably undo themselves.

stillfrazzled · 09/03/2010 19:25

Update: insurance will pay for repairs if we fork out for excess of £250 - full bill is £650 and door handle may also need replacing.

So it's not quite as bad as we thought from financial POV.

But the assessor said it was definitely a van or truck, given the height, so am thinking White Van Man rather than distracted patient.

I hope he's extricating himself from a lamp-post right about now and wincing...

I sympathise with you stillfrazzled, my car was damaged when some twat scraped up the side of it when it was parked at work two weeks ago.

It was in a private car park but my employers are too cheap to put in cctv.

I am soooooo pissed off about it, I wasn't even in the bloody car! Nobody owned up and there were no witnesses so I am stuck with a £210 excess on my insurance. Thank god for protected no claims.

I too hope that one day the selfish knobs who damage people's cars and drive off have a reality check.

I am so sorry for the reason you were at the hospital in the first place stillfrazzled, what a crappy day.

hobbgoblin · 09/03/2010 20:08

Awww, someone broke into our car wrecking the locks when I was in with septicaemia after my mmc.

Sympathies.

stillfrazzled · 09/03/2010 21:21

Thanks. Hobbgoblin, did you want to kill them too?

Pink, that's awful - probably someone you work with, then? Have you looked for suspicious scratches on other cars?
