....about the kitchen

We have lived in our current house for 14yrs. Never had a new kitchen. Have 4 children in 2.5 bedroom house. Waited 4 yrs for loft conversion. As part of the building works(if and when they happen) we are doing the kitchen.....we were going to have a range style cooker in the original alcove-a 90cm one. It now transpires that only a 80cm one will fit. There is not much choice. I would rather put one (90-100cm) where the current oven is now and lose a cupboard as we can then make the existing alcove into a larder cupboard 4x the size of the cupboard we will lose. I do all the cooking.....batch cook, make cakes not just for us but for loads of other events. In the last 14 yrs he has had numerous projects of his own including x2 old land rovers etc. I am fuming that yet again I have to compromise....AIBU!?

YANBU.

But then when we did our house out most of the descions were left to me in the end. He had a say of course, but ultimately it was my descion, especially the kitchen and the bathroom as I do the cooking and I bathe the dc.

YANBU

I have a husband who thought that we should not have a larder but have a cupboard for the freezer instead.

I put him right, we now have a larder.

Being happy wiht your kitchen is important if you use it a lot, and as you have said, there is not much choice at the 80cm size.

the kitchen is the hub of our house...all the children love cooking with me and I want them to enjoy the space...not be squashed and sqeezed!

M44 - if he wants to 'design' the kitchen he can use it!! IF he wants you to continue to use it, he can go with your requirements!!
