I was at the park today and my puppy was tethered to the park fence with his lead. He has a safety/training muzzle (a minute black windsock on his nose, not a HannibalLector style one) on as he has nipped my daughter and I don't want to even go there with other people/children who all like to offer their hands to the pup...

Anyway, he is small enough to get through the fence so kept coming in the park by a metre, tethered by his lead and I returned him to the outside of the fence every time.

There was a mother there who kept moaning about the dog in the park and people not obeing the rules, obviously dogs not allowed in the childrens play area. I didn't confront her or anything but just returned dog to the other side of the fence every time.

So, Miss Perfect was gobbing off and her DS came up to my DS and threw fists full of sand in my DSs face and I did the killing with kindness thing of 'oh don't worry, it's what toddlers do' and she scuttled offlooking majorly embarrassed.

Silly bint.

YANBU.

If you had left the pup at home, someone would have complained about you leaving him shut up all day. You were a responsible owner - returned him to his correct place each time he wandered into playground. You have taken sensible precautions to prevent him from nipping others.

She, on the other hand, needs to take her little pup to socialisation classes

Ooh- the moral high-ground is such a lovely place to be. You get such a good view from it

Had a similar experience once: out with my dog, on the lead, another woman coming the other way with her dog, on the lead. Her dog pulls her off her feet to get to mine, she starts ranting and swearing at me ( obviously I should not have been on the path when she wanted to use it) I pointed out "sorry, but my dog is under my control" She ranted and swore some more, while battering the poor dog. Fast forward an hour and I was called to see a dog fitting as an emergency- guess who? Her face went as white as a sheet when she saw me, but I was very professional and said nothing. (although it was fairly hard to hide my evil grin at her squirming!)
