Parcelforce

Parcelforce delivered a parcel yesterday - I didnt hear or see them arrive and I was at home.

Im guessing the dog was out in the garden so the delivery man didnt venture through the gate.

Instead he put the parcel over the gate and left - I now have a chewed to pieces parcel - the dog has got hold of it and ripped it to pieces.

AIBU to think he could have beeped his horn or something rather than just leave the parcel in the garden with a dog

No, I think YABU to leave your dog in his way. And to not train your dog to not chew things that are not toys.

JackBauer · 06/03/2010 08:46

I can see why you are annoyed BUT if he couldn't go into your garden as your dog was loose then YABU, delivery drivers aren't paid enough to risk being bitten.
If your dog can't be trusted witha parcel or something left in teh garden then he shouldn' be loose enough to get at it I'm afraid.

racmac · 06/03/2010 08:54

He is a 7 month old puppy - we are working on the training! I cant keep a dog inside all day on the off chance that someone might want to deliver something

I wouldnt expect him to come in to the garden where there was a dog - i understand that completely but surely he could beep his horn

YANBU I suspect that even if your dog was not in the garden he would have left it over the gate and not bothered to alert you. He sounds like the guy who delivers wih ParcelForce to our house, this is his classic MO and he is really hacking me off. He thinks a quick lob over the side gate (really high side gate down 7 steps falling int a concrete back yard) and breaking things ( a set of 20 glass testubes off ebay last month and marked FRAGILE) is a laugh/riot. I have even caught him mid lob last summer as I was on the other side of the gate I opened it up and was about to challenge him and he says"did you get the one on tuesday love"? I asked him not to carry on doing it as front door with bell is 5 yards further down. This was a year ago and I have logged an official complaint. I have no dog in the front so I don't get the lazy twat. Our postie on the other hand is lovely

There is also a postbox on our garden gate - he could have left it in there as the postie does every day - its on the outside of the gate.

Other delivery drivers have managed to get my attention and dont just leave the packages in the garden

YANBU - Parcelfarce are a bit of a joke though, aren't they?

When I got married my bridesmaids were all over the country so we had to post the dresses to them (signed for and tracked). One of them was left out in the rain in someones back garden, one was left in the middle of a driveway (signed for by "letterbox"), one was delivered to a different house (on a long road with no "sorry you were out" card) and the last one just took days to arrive.

JackBauer · 06/03/2010 09:44

Oh now hang on, No AIBUing by stealth please.
Of course if it was a small puppy that hasn't been trained that is one thing, and if there was a postbox then yes, YANBU he should have left it in there.

SGM, how would he have called her? I am ex directory so no postie wold have my phone number.

I heard a comedian on the radio the other day who said that when he was a kid they played that game where you knock on peoples doors and run away. These days it's called Parcelforce.

Housemum · 06/03/2010 16:32

I had a parcel left in my wheelie (recycling, so clean) bin. Unfortunately I was away for a long weekend so had arranged with a neighbour to take the bins down to the kerb - so one bag of clothes went in the recycling! (company did re-send the items they could, but frustrating as they were in the sale so couldn't get everything)

nickelbabe · 06/03/2010 16:41

whatever the state of the dog or the letterbox, he should not have left the parcel in the garden.

if he couldn't contact the OP by phone, then he should have left a "cannot deliver your parcel" note in her lette rbox.
it could have rained or the parcel could have been stolen.

what a useless delivery man.
