i know its "nice" but god its like a dog on heat.
maybe its ok fornubile californian blondes, but not when Chris evans describes hsi wife thus.
that is surely just smuggery?

Only person who should be allowed to use hot are Paris Hilton (and weathermen).

SwarthyWaiter · 04/03/2010 09:21

do you have to do that strange sizzle hiss sound too?

I call men hot too. Joe Fiennes is pretty damn hot its a multi purpose word and can be used equally on all genders YABU or a little sensitive reallly. That guy in Madmen Jon Hamm is v. hot too and so is the girl who plays his wife. My cat is hot stuff too while I am at it.

nickytwotimes · 04/03/2010 09:23

I don't really like it. Though of course, if someone were to use it to describe me, I'd be willing to forgive.

Lol at weathermen.

SwarthyWaiter · 04/03/2010 09:23

that is a good point.
hot is ok for men , although i think id like to put a huge imaginary sign above my head saying" i know i sound a twat when i use this word so bear with me"
i told ds3 we were cooking with gas last week.
he gave me a whithering smile and siad " that is NOT ok for adults to say"
i think hot might be the same

SwarthyWaiter · 04/03/2010 09:37

OP posts:
BariatricObama · 04/03/2010 09:39

the monks were hot

RockingChair · 04/03/2010 09:40

also men who are 'fit' is awful IMO

as well as

'sexy' or 'sexy beast' [puke emoticon]

BariatricObama · 04/03/2010 09:43

how do you describe attractive men? do you go all jane austen adn talk about 'the finest eyes in the county' and take turns about the room.

Shiitake · 04/03/2010 09:43

What it really means is shaggable. Nice? You decide.

kaffers · 04/03/2010 09:44

'hot' is yuck yuck yuck - I couldn't use the word 'babe'(to female friends) either although I have very good friends that do and it kind of sounds ok coming out of their mouths. I don't even like 'fit' used for men or women - call me old fashioned but I'll stick to 'good looking', 'gorgeous' or 'attractive' - very not down with the kids, I know.

BariatricObama · 04/03/2010 09:45

t'was common parlance when i was at school to describe hot boys as 'big rides'

Big rides!

I remember that Bariatric.

I am also pmsl at going all Jane Austen and taking turns.

SwarthyWaiter · 04/03/2010 09:51

fit was in vogue when i was a youth. But i think that was us trying to pretend we were from Moss side, not the counties.

i like to use the more retro term "dishy" now ? my mum .

< think frothy coffee bars and london in the late 50s>

SwarthyWaiter · 04/03/2010 09:54

i said to kids at school, was someone nice looking

adn they looked like this and said "he looked like someone's dad"

Bring back "smashing" or any compliment from the lovehearts sweets, I myself am very partial to "lush" (not used in the wino sense" from my days in Bristol it is great for men and women.

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/03/2010 10:55

OMG (actually I over say OMG a lot. I say it and dd looks at me scornfully and says I am trying to be like Scott Mills) the word Lush is so a west counrty thing. Everyone says it in Gloucesterhire and Bristol, usually with broad accents 'ooh that was really luuuuuuuush.

GetOrfMoiLand · 04/03/2010 10:58

Lol at myself saying 'it's so a west country thing'

OMG like it's so over
