to think that posties and delivery men are trained in ninja stealth tactics?

Grrrrr! Was expecting new phone to be delivered today, so dutifully whizzed dogs round the park first thing then sat in all day. Got a text to say would be delivered between 3 and 4pm, so got dad to come in and sit with other 2 kids while I went to pick dd up from after-school club. Got back to message on the door to say they had tried to deliver at 4.10 (this was 4.25) and there was noone home

Well there WAS someone home. Not to mention 2 dogs that bark the place down if someone so much as walks up driveway! Dad and kids swear they heard nothing. All lights on, kids running around. HOW did they manage to tiptoe up to the door and stick the message on without alerting anyone, not least the hounds of hell??? This isn't the first time this has happened- I have been sitting in living room when the postie has sneaked one of these "while-you-were-out" notes in. We have no doorbell, but even a knock on the door would alert the dogs (and us!)

So I now have to stay in all day tomorrow- again!! Think I will hide in a bush outside and pounce when they appear...

This drives me mad.
If you are a delivery driver, deliver.

Some are great and some are rubbish but I do agree some have Mission Impossible tactics.

They are skilled in making paper aeroplanes out of "sorry we missed you" notes and have an uncanny ability to get them through the air and in the letterbox without anyone even seeing where they were flung from.
YANBU, has happened to me but in my case I was in, they just didn't bother knocking, posted the note "Sorry we missed you" and jumped back into the van!
Maybe they are on target for timings and thought I would take too long to answer the door and sign for it...... but also [angry}

I have heard this is quite common, because of online shopping, posties now have to carry a lot more parcels, and their routes have also been increased due to staff reductions, so they are having more work, and fewer letters, but more parcels than before. So the overall number of things to deliver is less, which is why they have cut down the staff, but the overall awkwardness/heaviness of things has increased, and sometimes if a postie has too many parcels or packets to carry then he will leave some behind and just put the "sorry you were out" leaflet things through instead. They are not supposed to do this but it's quite common practice.

Our postie now has a huge thing like a cleaner's trolley to push along with all the post in rather than a bag. So at least RM are providing them with something better in some areas.

My postie is lovely and never does this but have had couriers do this and it pisses me off no end.

Glad it's not just me! (well, not glad it's happened to everyone else, but you know what I mean ) Thing is, if I miss the guerilla delivery driver tomorrow, the parcel goes back to the mysterious depot, which will inevitably be in the bowels of some godforsaken industrial estate 10 miles from here. Sigh.

Our postie now is great but the one where we lived before did this all the time. I once found a card saying he'd tried to deliver at 8.30am. Well I knew full well he hadn't because I'd been standing in the doorway at that time seeing ds off on his SN nursery bus! Obviously he'd been running late but was trying to make out he'd been there earlier.
